That love-it-or-hate-it 9760 *fat* clamshell Berry that’s been seen in leaked photos here and there took a big step today. Highlighting OS 6 on non-touchscreen devices, the 9670 clamshell spent a solid ten minutes in front of the video camera giving us not only a fair amount of info on OS 6, but on that 9670 hardware as well.
The verdict is still up in the air for me. I’m a sucker for “out there” styles. But this extra wide load clamshell is definitely pushing the envelope for what I’d consider “stylish”. Feel free to disagree after giving the two videos inside 1/6 of an hour of your attention…
The BlackBerry 9300 folks. Take it in, enjoy it. Bathe in its beauty. Do you like it?
The 9300 has been known about for several months now after a UAProf xml document was combed through by the uber curious CrackBerry type. In it was the phone you see before you.
From the look of things, this is what the new low end of BlackBerry handsets will look like. (Not bad, eh?) With that, the 8520/8530 series will mosey on out to pasture as the 9300 series moves in with it’s 3G and WiFi. Yes, it finally appears the cheap “Curve” model will gain 3G.
The only gripes to be found so far are the limited 256MB of RAM and outdated 320 x 240 display. Hey, gotta cut corners somewhere if you want this thing to be cheap cheap cheap.
Soak your eyes in the gallery after the jump…
I have to give it to RIM. The last couple of years they’ve drastically increased their R&D as well as designers eye, putting out some truly awesome products. One such product was the BlackBerry Pearl of years past. It was RIM’s first (first good looking that is) candybar-size phone that more mainstream/consumer users actually wanted to use. At that time, that was a big deal for the typical corporate workhorse BlackBerry. But all good things must come to and end. As such, RIM has left that slim candybar space void of any real improvement since the 81xx device leaving many out in the cold.
Then several weeks back pictures of a new 91xx Pearl leaked, showing the world a much classier and lust-worthy Pearl. So far, both SureType and full-QWERTY keypads have been spied in these so called leaked shots. Well, add another keyboard to the list of potentials today as now a T9 keyboard also appears within this super model of a phone.
While I understand that this is a render, it’s a poor one at that. Not to mention, RIM’s bread and butter feature is amazing keyboards. Amazing the T9, from any manufacturer, is not. With as much emphasis as RIM puts on communication, I can’t see them seriously considering rolling out a dumbed down POS T9 enabled phone. But that’s my opinion. What’s yours?

With all the full-QWERTY love RIM has been dishing out the last few quarters, Suretype users may feel like they’re getting ignored and getting left out in the cold to whither and die. Nothing could be further from the truth though as images of a revamped Pearl of sorts currently plotting along with the 9100 moniker have been spotted several times. So far, any real useful info such as price or release date have been MIA. But a new screenshot of a Fido inventory system has good news coming on relatively swift wings. If all goes according to plan, Fido customers could see a revamped Pearl/9100 drop on May 4th.
Those of you still managing to hobble along on 81xx hardware have reinforcements/relief coming soon. If you’re made it this far, another 5-6 weeks isn’t going to kill you. Excited?

Good news for SureType haters/81xx(Pearl) lovers, a new juicy rumor is floating around this afternoon concerning the input method for the upcoming Pearl based 91xx devices. There’s a fair chance that the SureType technology which crams two letters per key could be taken off the books by the time the next skinny Berry hits the streets. The news doesn’t come from RIM or any close 3rd party partner. Instead, a random part found on “TrueSupplier” poses itself as a replacement keyboard for the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 smartphone. Seeing as how pictures or really any concrete information surrounding the 9100 hasn’t been released (or even leaked), this full QWERTY Pearl rumor is pretty intriguing.
Some may be cringing right now at the thought of that larger QWERTY crammed into roughly half the space. But if you really think about it, it wouldn’t be that bad at all. Look at the Palm Pixi. It’s a rather slim device that has a pretty decent full QWERTY. I personally never was too thrilled with SureType’s on/off guestimations with what I was trying to say.
What do you think? A full QWERTY slim Pearl device sound like something you’d want?

We may have touched on the BlackBerry Slider earlier, but the picture at that time while fairly revealing, was simply lacking that crystal clear definition that we all so desperately seek. BBLeaks has struck back however with clearer shots of this hotly debated device from RIM. For a quick recap, WiFI g/n, touchscreen, OS 6.0 (why not skip straight to 10…?), and several other unannounced goodies lie in wait, hidden beneath the plastic carcass that you see before you. For now, it’s late. All you really want to do is stair at those sexy curves without the burden the written doles out. Fair enough.
The last set of words: What do you think the name will be: (1) Storm 3 (2) Bold series (3) New name altogether?

The BlackBerry Tour is by far the best CDMA BlackBerry yet. It has style, power, and sophistication. But one glaring omission — WiFi — fails to earn it a “buy” rating in my book. Remember, no matter how good your carrier, there will always be dead spots. The Tour 2/Essex/9650 is no secret. It’s been rumored about and talked about for many months. In fact, shortly after (as in days) after the original Tour, talk of an updated model with WiFi and a trackpad were heard.
Now that actual pictures have emerged CrackBerry users all over can feel confident knowing that help is on the way. If you held off on the original Tour congrats. The updated model while not really all that different save for the two additions already mentioned will no doubt bring a smile to countless Berry users. Who’s planning on upgrading from their original and who waited it out?

Simple operation is the goal of many smartphone manufacturers and mobile OS developers. The easier and more straightforward you can make your device the better. But sometimes you just want to get your hands dirty or tweak your device a bit. For BlackBerry users longing for such control, they have a new solution in “Task Manager”.
Even in the free model, users have access to Applications, Performance, and System Info. The first three tabs give you some insightful insider knowledge on the inner workings of your Berry. But there’s more to be had. Ponying up $1.99 for the premium version nets you the Process tab in addition to the other three which goes even further allowing you to see each individual processes resources as well as process ID — perfect for the multi-tasking Crackberry users who truly flog their device day in and day out.
The new Berries come with plenty of power underneath the hood but with the demands we place on them, they too can become bogged down at times. Having a powerful task manager is ideal for making the most of your mobile experience. I just downloaded Advanced Task Killer for my DROID and already love it. Having a Task Manager that allows you to fully control your device is a godsend. For only $1.99, Task Manager for BlackBerry should be on every Berry. Yes, even yours.

Browsing themes downloads on a BlackBerry device isn’t exactly fun, intuitive, or fast. Having a “theme browser/store” in a mobilized version is something BlackBerry users have been clamoring for. CrackBerry, in conjunction with MobiHand are finally releasing such a store bringing easy and fast theme browsing to BlackBerry handhelds. Searching through themes via Category, Newness, etc. give you plenty of ways to find what you want. Go ahead and give it a try.
