Crysis 2 DirectX11 Patch Dropping June 27th.

  • June 22, 2011 4:28 pm

For several years Crysis has been a great indicator to overall gaming performance as to this day can push some PCs harder than they capable of going. So when the game developers behind Crysis, Crytek, unveiled Crysis 2 and it’s console port-like DX9 support, many cried fowl. Since Crysis 2′s release many weeks back, the initial fanfare has died down, though the criticisms still remain.

But that will soon change thanks to the often rumored DX11 pack that will bring many new, subtle UI tweaks to the game ultimately making it much, much prettier to look at. Everything from dirt, to shadows, to tessellation will now be enabled.

With that said, the image above is but one example of many compliments of NeoGAF. For the full gallery of GIFs, be sure to hit up NeoGAF’s original post which showcases 6 different environments with DX11 features enabled/disabled.

EA Responds: Crysis 2 Steam Removal Wasn’t Us.

  • June 15, 2011 9:36 pm

Earlier today we touched on a story involving the recently released Crysis 2 being removed from Steam. At the time we believed it was an EA decision. However, EA has officially responded to claims they’re at fault and pointed the blame at Crysis developer, Crytek and Steam.

“It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis 2 from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA. Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis 2 from Steam.

Crysis 2 continues to be available on several other download services including GameStop, Amazon, Origin.com and more.”

So there you have it. Will Crytek and Steam work out the differences? It’s certainly bad news for Steam lovers looking at picking up Crysis 2 in the near future.

Next Gen Xbox To Debut At E3 2012, Use DirectX 11, Feature 3D?

  • June 15, 2011 12:04 am

Microsoft’s E3 keynote came and went this year without any new hardware unveiled or even mentioned. Sony followed a similar path. It was Nintendo and Nintendo alone who had some new gear for the gaming world to poke and prod. And even though we certainly see the potential of the Wii U, we see it as more of a catchup to Microsoft and Sony’s current hardware than anything truly groundbreaking. With that said, while Microsoft may have disappointed legions of gamers in 2011, 2012 will be very different if recent claims by VideoGamer.com citing Crysis developer, Crytek, are to be believed…

Crysis 2 Recommended Specs Leak?

  • February 18, 2011 6:55 pm

Within the last couple of weeks, the minimum specs for Crysis were made public. While it gave us a good glimpse as to what would be required of our machines to power the latest and greatest Crytek has to offer, it didn’t tell us much in the sense that minimum requirements are often low-balled. Recommended specs are what really matter. Unfortunately, thus far Crytek has been pretty tight lipped about said requirements. Until now. Well, Crytek still isn’t actually saying anything, but fellow tech site VR-Zone is. They claim to have the recommended specs in the bag. As seen above, Crysis 2 is still a very power hungry game, but not in the same context as it was back in 2007. These days, a Core 2 Duo and Nvidia 280/ATI 4870 aren’t exactly “high-end”. Nevertheless, the true test will be running the final version of the game on our systems to see the results for ourselves.

We’ll definitely be picking up Crysis 2. You?

Crytek decrees: “Free demos are a luxury that is dying…” Me: Peace out then

  • April 16, 2010 6:12 pm

If you hold game demos near and dear to your heart, the tides are a changin’ in ways that just aren’t too friendly for consumers. First, a few weeks back EA announced that they were toying with the idea of charging $10-$15 for “premium demos”. Naturally, a fair share of gamers weren’t too pleased. But another developer has spoken out in favor of such things.

Cyrsis 2 packing the heat this holiday season on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3!

  • February 9, 2010 12:48 am

Oh geeze, I know what is going on gadget/gamers wish lists this year — Crysis 2. Even though a good chunk of computers still can’t run the visually demanding and sensory pleasing game, one of the co-devleopers of Crysis (Crytek) aren’t sitting down, content with the still virtually unchallenged work.

Come this holiday season, Crysis will finally be unseated as “the” game to benchmark. It’s been a wonderful couple of years. Heck, besides being a great all around game to play and look at, the game became a standard. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard someone say “But can it run Cyrsis…?”. Such things only happen to the best of the breed.

A new revelation this holiday season for round 2 is that for the first time, console players will be able to get in on the action. After being a PC exclusive for the last couple of years, it will be interesting to see how Crysis does jumping across to different platforms and user markets. And of course, I can’t wait to see the downright beautiful graphics ‘splayed across my screen. See you on Xbox Live this Christmas…
