The Millennium Falcon Bed may have been the talk of the town yesterday, but even a mere 24 hours into the past can now be considered old, washed up news. You needn’t worry however as there is plenty to talk about today. The bed mentioned above is a novel idea however, not everyone wants to or likes to spend too much time sleeping. You know what they say — plenty of time to sleep when you’re dead…right? Anyway, instead of a modded bed, how about another modded Xbox? Why December is becoming the month of modded Xboxes is beyond me. But you don’t see me complaining.
The Millennium Xbox mod is one of the more stylized and detailed mods I’ve seen in recent memory. Many of the other mods we’ve seen are special and all labors of love. This particular mod however is over the top. Above and beyond. The alpha and…oh alright, you’ve got the point.
Buddying up with a dremel, a soldering iron, and rounding up the internal know-how needed to construct such a contraption are the few requirements. Speaking of which, th elite aren’t the only individuals who get to enjoy this symphony of geekery. Instructables has the know-how. Tools and crafty prowess are yours to worry about.
Ok, did I miss some announcement on some bizarre national mod week? I mean the OS XBox Pro (pictured above) is now one of many gadget mods we’ve covered over the last couple of days. All things considered, it could be the millionth custom mod and I would still be just as captivated and geeked out. Some of you may be unimpressed as it appears to be a minor Xbox mod with perhaps some tweaked internal hardware. It’s sitting their in it’s old age all innocent looking. Oh dear reader…how you couldn’t be more wrong. The OS Xbox Pro is damn near an entire Mac Pro stuffed inside of an original Xbox casing. This ingenious and awe-inspiring combination of brains, beauty and creativity is the brain child of Will Urbina. The only requirement Will set out to meet in the beginning was to create a custom mod that was able to run Final Cut Pro. Did he succeeded? Before you check out the video below, try and at least read over a couple of the specs…
2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550s
NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT
8GB of DDR3 Crucial Ballistix 1333MHz RAM
Highpoint RocketRAID 2640×1
16GB 1.8″ Super Talent MasterDrive KX SSD
2x 500GB 7200rpm Seagate Momentus HDD
2x 160GB 5400rpm Seagate Momentus HDD
Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR
Ya, this little mod that appears to be a simple Xbox tweak will clean the clocks of many multimedia/entertainment computers as well as several mid-range gaming rigs. It’s chock full of hardware — something that seems almost impossible given the Xbox’s rather small case (compared to a traditional computer with similar specs.) If any custom mod has ever left any type of motivation building within, the OS Xbox Pro is definitely “the one”. Who wants 6? Engadget > Will U Design
The Xbox 360 is a pretty decent looking piece of tech. Though the white box look isn’t for everyone. Some users may want more color or more flash for their visually driven lives. If that be the case, XCM has something you sweet eyed gamers may want to consider: their XCM Black Light Case. As the name and pictures imply, the Black Light Case adds a splash of color to your device by way of colored LED’s and a transparent window so you can see the light and your 360′s innards melting after hours of punishing gaming sessions. Buyers can select from either one permanent color or a “rainbow” option that will allow your 360 to cycle between pre-defined colors of red-purple-green-yellow-blue-apple green-orange. Besides the splash of color, an illuminated fan shroud replacement is also included as to kick up the custom look up a notch. If there had to be a “con” with a case as cool as this, it would definitely be the fact that it will only work on HDMI equipped boxes. Why? Not sure. But you find out how to get one of your own (priced at $89.99) and do the case swap out (which looks mighty easy by the way) right over here. Who’s ready to to have a rave in their basement compliments of their new XCM equipped Xbox 360? Anyone? Anyone?
