If there were any doubt in your mind that global warmingglobal cooling climate change wasn’t an immediate threat to humanity, I have one thing that should instantly re-instill fear into the depths of your soul — Frost the Fire Breathing Snowman.
Gone forever are the childhood memories of dear sweet frosty, the glistening of freshly fallen snow, and the smell of Auntie’s hot-out-of-the-oven chocolate cookies. Instead, all of it will be replaced with the destruction and utter chaos that Frosty the Firey Snowman will levy on the human race. Godspeed everyone.
We’re always looking for the next up and coming gadget to lust over. To spare you the hardware, we comb over the vast expanses of the web looking for any and all information that will tickle your gadget fancy. In that case, how about some news on the upcoming HTC Dragon, Huashan, Tinshan, and Songshan devices? Let’s get started….
Dragon: Often rumored to have been the Nexus One, the Dragon looks to be heading to China packing a 3.6″ WVGA display and Android.
Huashan: 4.3″ WVGA display and suspected successor to HTC HD2
Tinshan: 3.2″ QVGA display
Songshan: 2.8″ QVGA display
…what, that’s it? Hey, I did say “slightly” detailed in the title did I not? From the screen sizes we can’t tell much of anything about each respective device. Though the screen sizes are a good indicator of the general market of the phone. For example, the HTC Huashan’s 4.3″ WVGA display means that it is obviously a higher end device with a massive screen. Massive screens generally require massive processors (Snapdragon) and a host of other high-end features.
I’m still breaking my DROID in and yet here comes the next Android king pin, the HTC Dragon. From what we know so far, this phone is going to be a beast running a 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 256MB RAM and Android 2.0 tucked inside. If the estimated release of early to mid December is correct, do you see any DROID early adopters feeling a bit of early upgrade remorse?
I’ll admit, I could have waited until mid-December to get a new phone. But like many of you out there my instant urges needed fulfilling. I’m confident that even after the Dragon is released with a bigger screen and faster processor (and Sense UI too), I’ll only be slightly envious of Snapdragon owners. I’ll still love my DROID through and through. Plus, after going touchscreen only for a while on the iPhone and now spending time with Android 2.0′s onscreen keyboard, I can say that Android’s onscreen while easily the second best soft keyboard just isn’t as good as the iPhone’s. Because of that, the physical keyboard on the DROID will keep it higher up on my list for the time being.
Now if HTC releases a device similar to the Dragon with a hardware keyboard…well then all bets are off…
Rumors. How we love them, hope for their transgression into reality, and ultimately finding a heavenly slice of life when they do so. So far, I haven’t seen a single Android handset that makes me want to cough up money to cancel my contract and buy new hardware. Don’t get me wrong, I love Android and can’t wait to make the switch. It’s just that the hardware is lacking. While 528 MHz was fast a couple years ago and still actually is fast, it’s not that fast anymore. With the 1GHz HTC Leo unfortunately going the WinMo route, Android hopefuls who are still waiting for their “savior” are hungry for what could be.
The “could be” will soon “be” as some extremely lucky XDA developers, Reignzone being one, somehow got their hands on an experimental HTC build. You know where this is leading.
