Gears Of War 3 Leaked – Microsoft Hunts For The Kill.

  • July 3, 2011 9:13 pm

If you were anywhere near the interwebs yesterday you probably heard about the extremely early leak of Gears of War 3. With YouTube spoilers and news stories of the breach, it was obvious it was big news. The highly anticipated game isn’t set for release until late September, but there are impatient pirates out there that couldn’t wait. We aren’t sure how the game was leaked, but it was on many a torrent site last night. YouTube videos emerging after the release giving us a view into different maps we didn’t see in the Mulitplayer Beta, as well as what seemed like the entire single player campaign. We saw this same thing happen last year with the release of Halo:Reach, which was leaked because someone was able to hack through the security that Microsoft had in place on their marketplace – which was available to game reviewers to download and review the game.

Microsoft and Epic games are working closely with law enforcement agencies to determine how the breach happened and most likely seek legal action against the culprit. They state that what was released via BitTorrent wasn’t the final build of the game, and that we won’t be satisfied if we play said build – but that still doesn’t mean the many xboxers out there that have jtag modded consoles won’t be giving this game a try. We’ll release any further info about how the breach might have come about, but I’m guessing it might be the work of Anonymous! jk guys, jk.

Dana Cowley – spokes person for Microsoft and Epic Games – released this statement:

We have seen the reports of Gears of War 3 content being propped on the Web and working closely with our security teams and law enforcement to address the situation. This content is not from a final build and is not representative of what fans will enjoy when the game launches worldwide on September 20, 2011.

Duty Has Been Called Over 1.5Miiilllionnn Times

  • February 8, 2011 10:11 am

I completely forgot to post about this game when it was first birthed into the internets, but since it has had over 1.5 million downloads in less than a week – it’s time for a mention… If you haven’t been online or on your Xbox 360 Dashboard, you might have not heard of a little ‘Epic’ release entitled ‘Bulletstorm,’ developed by Epic(Gears of War Trilogy) as well as People Can Fly Games. And they have driven their lolzroyce to the internets and have released an online only parody game of the Call of Duty Franchise.

We all love Call of Duty, at least I do, but we all hate it too. I (we) hate how once a year I have to buy a new game so I can be a part of an amazing multiplayer experience. I (we) hate how there is no real difference in the games. Stories are usually a copy of the previous, gameplay doesn’t advance, etc. This is what we get when year after year we see a new title released. We still enjoy the good times we have headshotting noobs online, but we still are eager for something new.

Hop on in for more including the 4+ minute game walkthrough.

Samsung Galaxy Pro becomes the Sprint Epic 4G.

  • June 28, 2010 6:27 am

Can a new Android phone by Samsung really be called “Epic”? The fact that it has 4G is a good start. Kicking the phone to the side to reveal a rather spacious 5-row sliding keyboard doesn’t hurt either. But are those two features alone enough to conquer them all?

Depends on what you look for in a phone. Though, the reported 1GHz “Hummingbird” processor, 1GB RAM/512 ROM, 802.11b/g/n w/ wifi hotspot, 5mp camera, and 720p video recording ability certainly add some weight. Tying it all together is Android 2.1 with Samsung’s love it or hate it TouchWiz 3.0 skin.

Other tidbits like price and release date have been grouped under the all too common “Soon”, so keep checkin’ back. But if you’re feeling the urge to stay up to the minute with the Epic 4G, sign up to receive more information as it becomes available. You know how it is, join the crowd.

Any Sprint users waiting with abated breath?

Operation Chokehold going down 12pm (PST) this Friday, December 18th.

  • December 15, 2009 8:04 am

chokehold2Sick of AT&T’s wasted dollars spent on stupid advertisements, constant complaints on poor network performance being blamed on “faulty hardware”, and voicing attempts to “educate customers”? You’re not alone. Granted most of the iPhone toting crowd will never stumble upon any tech blog, those who do can at least take action. “Operation Chokehold” was coined by the “Fake Steve” (aka Dan Lyons) to highlight AT&T’s utter failure in the mobile sphere. The requirements are simple: This Friday, December 18th at 12pm (PST), all iPhone users are encouraged to fire up the most data intensive apps they have and start the download/streaming/data sucking away. AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega is either incredibly naive or incredibly stupid judging by his choice of words late last week, claiming that he and his posse were going to “educate iPhone users as to the proper ways of using their smartphones”. Right. Bring the network to it’s knees guys.

Some may call out such attempts as childish, stupid, and juvenile. For that all I can say is you are missing the point. AT&T is a big corporate entity that doesn’t give a damn about end users. So often end users are told to stand up to corporate wrongdoings in any way that they can. Much like some groups march in protest for a particular belief, iPhone users can take the digital march of their own to the airwaves. Emails, posts on support forums and other traditional methods of customer outlets won’t dissuade AT&T in the slightest or get their attention. However, a massive customer revolt bringing down their fragile network to it’s knees should clearly get the message across — customers won’t be blamed for AT&T’s faults.

It is you Mr. de la Vega that needs an education. Fix your damn network!

Per Fake Steve:

Subject: Operation Chokehold
On Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. THe idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. Join us and speak truth to power!

Nokia Comes With Music an epic fail

  • October 16, 2009 8:38 am

After Nokia’s less than steller Q3 results, the last thing the company needs on their hands and blood filled record books is another failure in the wings. Because that is what their “Comes With Music” service is — an epic failure. Don’t just take my rantings for it. The numbers which were leaked to Music Ally show that as of July, they have a paltry 107,00 active Comes With Music users in 9 markets worldwide. If you’re looking for some more “down to earth” analogy, 107,000 users is (provided by Wikipedia):

  • ~ 1 Tonga
  • ~ 1.5 Bermuda’s
  • 10 Tuvalu’s
  • 1/3 Iceland

Yes, these are real countries. Why pick fun at someone else’s misfortune? Well, I’m kinda sick that way. Also, any company that thinks shackling music with any form of DRM and then charging outlandish prices like…let’s say 100 EUR per year is either stupid, completely blind to the market, or self sabotaging themselves. The actual breakdown of CWM is as follows:

  • UK (launched Oct 08): 32,728
  • Singapore (Feb 09): 19,318
  • Australia (Mar 09): 23,003
  • Brazil (Apr 09): 10,809
  • Sweden (Apr 09): 1,101
  • Italy (Apr 09): 691
  • Mexico (May 09): 16,344
  • Germany (May 09): 2,673
  • Switzerland (Jun 09): 560

Pretty disappointing eh? Though Nokia has already gone on to claim “poor marketing” and not enough “support” behind the initiative is to blame. Because, you know, it couldn’t have anything to do with the totalitarian DRM BS, over priced dollar amount, or overall incompetent decisions made from within. Na. It was definitely because they didn’t plaster enough billboards up everywhere. And they wonder why their market share is tanking…
