Gamers with sweaty hands rejoice — Thermaltake releasing keyboard complete with fans.

  • June 3, 2010 10:26 am

It used to be that fans would only come up in conversation when reviewing an actual computer or case. But that’s old news. Not only cases get hot, right? Thermaltake is ushering in the next dare I say gimmicky feature for keyboards — Fans.

Yup, fans on a keyboard. Hey, I’ve had some pretty hot gaming sessions before where my hands got a tad clammy. But was it bad or frequent enough to warrant paying a premium for a tiny fan rigged to the keyboard? Probably not. Though I can see plenty of people picking one of these up regardless.

Other than the high talking point surrounding the fan, design, macro keys, lighting, and feel are all pretty standard. Remember, it’s all about the fan.

Any clammy patties irked with joy? A few more shots long for your attention after the brief intermission….

Keep that 58xx series ATI card cool and quiet thanks to ZALMAN’s new air cooler.

  • April 7, 2010 10:24 am

Geeks and PC builders usually fall into two classes: (1) performance or (2) quiet computing. I personally love speed, not giving too much care to noise as I often am wearing headphones, so it’s a moot point. But others would like to be able to hold a normal conversation or play a song without having to crank the volume up just to be heard of the sound of spinning fans.

For the ATI 58xx series, there hasn’t really been a legitimate 3rd party solution for cooling. The stock heatsink/fan/shroud combo isn’t particularly bad. Though if you overclock at all plan on setting the fans to spin faster, earlier. Of course, all that extra spinning means more noise. That’s where the ZALMAN VF3000A comes in.

Featuring twin 92mm fans that spin between 1,300 – 2,500 RPM’s, the VF3000A will easily cool even the hottest running OC’d 58xx cards. I guess it’s good that ATI cards, the 58xx series especially, don’t really run all that hot.

There is one thing to keep in mind before getting to excited though. This cooler is big! Weighing in at 430 grams and thick enough to consume two PCI slots on it’s own means you’re going to need a massive amount of PCI slots/motherboard space if you’re considering running two of these on a CrossFireX setup. From the looks of it, it appears the best installs will be single card setups only.

Pricing coming soon.

Keystick Keyboard the ultimate multi-functional, ultra portable keyboard.

keystick

Fans and keyboards go together like beef noodles and ranch dressing. Hmmm yummy. While gadgets coming out of Japan often have rather unique and sometimes downright weird uses and styles, there’s no denying that they’re at least thought provoking. Mobile computing power users may at times need a portable keyboard to go along with them for the wide. We’ve seen various roll-style keyboards before that are soft, flimsy, and flexible offering up all kinds of options for transporting them. This Keystick Keyboard/Fan however deviates from the standard design of mobile keyboards.

Instead of compacting into mobile form like a roll of carpet, the Keystick folds like an accordion. What’s even more unique (and odd) is the hidden functionality of this keyboard — it doubles as a fan. Here in the states, fans haven’t really caught on. But Japan is a completely different beast.

Whether you’re oriental, looking to get in touch with your roots albeit with a geeky flare or simply looking for another novelty/almost functional gadget due, the Keystick may be worth a look.

The human body is a walking scientific spectacle. Even though the DNA between you and me is virtually 99% the same, it’s that 1% sliver that differentiates all of us. Some like it hot. Some like it cold. Some can take the heat. Others simply drop like flies. For the ground thumpers out there, carrying a mini fan with you everywhere you go can be a nuisance and at times embarrassing. Thankfully there is the solar powered hat fan. Featuring two small solar panels and an actual miniaturized fan, this hat will keep your noggin nice and cool even when mother nature and Mr. Sun try their hardest to bring you down. The best part? It’s only $16 to be able to call this little wonder yours. Now will it actually work as advertised? At least you’ll pull of the geeky look. But such things are trivial when life, comfort, and just plain livability are concerned. Let us know how it goes!

One of the biggest complaints in office spaces today is in regards to temperature. Some are too hot. Some are too cold. While others remain blissfully unaware what exactly is going on around them. While you can buy various smaller office/cubicle sized fans, why not go the extra mile and downsize a tad more? Get more personal with your fan. The Retro USB Fan will not only fit in tiny spaces, it will also keep you cool and impress your golden oldie co-workers with it’s attractive 1930′s styling. Who says you can be classic and efficient? Silent with a full 360 degree field of rotation means this little ice chiller is up for most cooling jobs. As far as life changing decisions go, Black, Pink, and Blue are the three choices in super neat colors you can choose for your little spinning relic of coolness. $15 and it’s yours. [Gadget4All].

Look ridiculous and stay cool all while displaying your nerdiness: The Solar Hat Fan

Some people like it hot. Some people like it cold. Some people are just plain nerdy and will be until they’re old. *crickets…* Yes I know a grand attempt at humor was another epic failure. Try to step past that brief display of mental incapacity and look at another – The Solar Hat Fan. While in reality it comes off as a really useful gadget, I just couldn’t get myself to wear this out in public. What about you? The whole gist of this gadget is obviously the idea that it is completely void of batteries, running solely on solar power. And of course that you can clip it to pretty much any hat. The loss of friends and social humiliation is an added “free” feature. If you are the type that can’t stand heat and hot weather, my first suggestion is move somewhere else. My second suggestion is don’t go outside. And the third suggestion is that if you really must disregard the first two suggestions, get one of these Solar Hat Fan’s just so you don’t keel over from heat stroke. I care about you. I really do. If you are going with choice 3 (god rest your soul), stop on by Gaiam and scrounge up the relatively affordable 1,000 pennies for the privilege.
