There are many ways for the geeks of the world to show off their prized character to the rest of the civilized world. Whether they choose to do so by clothing, a particular gadget, or even a skin or theme on said gadget, customization is a geeks true hobby. Geeky t-shirts are one of the most obvious and often seen tools for the modern geek to tell the world of their digital love. But such things often only cover the front side of you. Though there are some shirts that wrap around to the back as to catch everyone you pass regardless of the direction they’re facing. But one shirt isn’t enough. No sir. We geeks are an expressive bunch. The more expression the better — right?

How about letting your backside impress every once in a while and give it a little more nerdy love by way of the “Retro Cellphone Wallet”. Right up front I’ll tell you the coolest part of this wallet is the included antenna which perfectly mimicks how the mobile geek of only as little as half a decade ago conducted daily business. What modern geek doesn’t like cellphones? (Please speak up!)

The privilege geekifying your ass starts at $24. Start shoppin’.

Palm still doing a dance in red ink…bleeding money

dollar's flow in black hole

If the Pre was supposed to be the saving grace of Palm, I have some news for you: They’re screwed. One phone alone can’t save a company that has been languishing in mediocrity for some time (such as Palm). It will take multiple releases of innovative and intriguing handsets to get Palm accountants to uncheck the box on the red font square into something a little more business like and classy such as black. I guess you’d like to know the dirty details huh? How about $68mm in Q1 2010 compared to $368mm just a year earlier. Gross profit is also not looking so good at $2.8mm below $0. Using a demystifying and honest accounting calculator such as GAAP, one can truly see the grim forest still finds itself oh so lost in. Applied to Q1 2010 results, Palm recorded a net loss of $164.5mm which as you could imagine is several times more than their $41.9mm loss from ’09.

I can throw around numbers all day to get the point across but…what’s the point? Palm is in bad bad shape. Plus, the fact that they still have failed to release Pre sales numbers means it’s pretty much save to assume they fell well short of their lofty expectations. All of which adds up to a not so favorable future. Palm still isn’t out of the woods yet folks. Will they be here come winter of 2010? 2011?

Twitter to start charging commercial customers?

Because the U.S. economy is doing amazing (obvious sarcasm), individuals as well as corporations and institutions are hurting for money.  Twitter (a microblogging service…sort of like a mini-facebook if you will) is no different.  What is strange is that even after nearly 3 years of operation, they still don’t have any revenue model.  Odd for a company that is growing and as large as Twitter has become.  A company that uses vast amounts of data, has no revenue plan whatsoever, and given the current economic times is pushing Twitter to the edge monetarily.  What are they planning to do?
