Apple Begins Phasing Out G3 Support For iTunes Store?

9to5Mac reader Alex W found a possible glitch/new development regarding the iTunes Store and G3 support — or that is, the lack thereof. When said reader tried visiting the iTunes Store on his G3 running iTunes 8.2.1 recently, he found the image plastered above encouraging him to upgrade to iTunes 10. Of course, running the old hardware he doesn’t have a choice.

We’re all for preserving the lives of computers in general, but at 10 years out you’ve got to say goodbye at some point, dude. Nevertheless, it’s still unconfirmed if this is a deliberate move by Apple or a user error of some sort. We’ve sent an email out to Apple and will update you accordingly…

You know, I love seeing technology modded. Things like custom Xbox’s, tricked out PC cases, and mashups of the weirdest gadgets really get me going. Seeing as how I’m almost positive that you’re a nerd too, one who also likes custom gadget stuff, allow to share with you NecroMac. The heavily modified Power Mac G3 you see above has hieroglyphs inscribed all over it’s plastic canvas giving it that old Egyptian flare that is really impressive. Achieving this blend of old and new was accomplished by way of white linen paper, lemon juice, and several other products and techniques that bring out that “old as dirt” look.
