HTC Gold (and friends) coming to UK, Windows Phone 7 in tow.

  • July 7, 2010 6:52 am

Occupants of the UK often have to deal with staggered release dates for many a gadget. But waiting often brings many good things in life. Don’t believe me? Have a glance at the claimed upcoming UK hardware releases, compliments of phone site, “Omio“.

Mentioned in the leaked roadmap are some very powerful devices. Namely, the HTC Vision and HTC Ace (Android), the HTC Gold (WP7), and even the Nokia E5 and BlackBerry 9300. A wide range of talent no less.

None of the devices are particularly record breaking, but that doesn’t mean they’re any less desirable. At least in the case of the Windows Phone 7 HTC Gold, we can presume a processor clocked at at least 1GHz — seeing as Microsoft themselves have set that standard. Either way, the next several months will be exciting for the UK gadget populous no doubt.

Gaming families rejoice: Microsoft outs Xbox Live Family Subscriptions for $99/year.

  • June 22, 2010 12:23 pm

If there’s one thing Microsoft has blown out of the park and done remarkably well with over the last 5 years, Xbox is definitely where it’s at. Building off the original hardware console, Xbox Live has transformed international multi-player gaming into an extremely easy and intuitive affair.

And now that multiple people in the same house probably want Xbox Live Gold accounts without paying $50 per person, per year, Microsoft is happy to oblige. Introducing Xbox Live Gold Family plans topping the chart at $99/yr.

If you’ve only got two accounts in the household, there isn’t any savings to be had. But it really starts to add up when you start factoring in the 3rd and 4th accounts. On that note, there is a limit of (4) total accounts under a family plan. Ask yourself though, how many people really have 5+ Xbox Live accounts…?

Foxbling: Our beloved little internet fox turned into a street warrior.

  • January 28, 2010 3:07 pm

Oh FireFox. Have you ever looked at that little cute fox character wrapped around the globe and thought someone should turn him into a gold covered chain? If so, today is your lucky day because someone has done just that.

No more is Franky (I named the Firefox squirrel Franky by the way…) a cute little squirrel but a gold encrusted street warrior complete with sharp edges that could slice through diamonds themselves. Ok, so maybe they won’t cut through the earth’s hardest material. But they will at the very least poke your eye out. So be careful.

Anyone diggin’ this new found image of one of the world’s most popular and favorite browsers or is it a little too much?

Mario Candy the perfect gift for the geeky sweet tooth.

  • December 29, 2009 10:29 am

If you could reach into your TV screen, pick up Mario and bite of his head, would you? Too graphic perhaps? What about one of those magical mushrooms always running around? I mean, a little trip via some organic fungus never hurt anyone too bad right? If such things ping your brain every night as you lie awake in bed, boy have I got a treat (literally) for you.

Mario Candies. Thanks to Birthday Express (Mushroom and Gold Star candies) and BigBadToyStore (Question Mark Block candies), the retro gamer’s sweet tooth can truly be fulfilled.

The best part is the super cheap $3.99 price tag. Usually such iconic and trademarked merchandise is grossly overpriced. Eat it up while you can!

If you own an Xbox 360, chances are you more than likely have an Xbox Live gold account giving you free reign on Xbox Live. Without Live, the 360 is still good machine though significantly less desirable in my opinion. Whether the sinking economy stole your Xbox Live money or you simply haven’t ponied up the $50/year entrance fee because you’re “just not sure” it’s worth it, we can all agree that when someone offers you anything for free, you should generally take it.

For European Xbox owners, starting at 5pm GMT on November 25th and lasting through 5pm GMT November 25th, Xbox Silver members will be able to game in all of the online glory that Xbox Live Gold service allows. For those not in Europe, the dates of free game time will be 12am EST November 20th – 12am EST November 23. Why the date discrepancy? I’m not sure if that’s an error or not? (Anyone care to specify — I’m stuck behind a proxy at the moment unable to really confirm or deny any dates at the moment.)

The move is intended to showcase Live’s new additions of Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm, and Netflix in hopes that more people become yearly subscribers. Even though it isn’t the first time Microsoft has done this, it’s nice to see they still care. Will you be taking advantage of the free goods? See you on Live…
