Let me start by saying that when I am in need of a safe place to store a particular valuable, usually the inner sanctums of some sort of building or secure compartment in a car is my first choice. The makers of the “Hitch Safe” would like you to rethink your old perceptions of safety by including your trailer hitch in the short list of places you consider top secret and safe enough for your most precious items. Instead of keeping your dear dead grandmothers priceless wedding ring or thousands of dollars in cash in the safety of your glove box, under the front seat, or anywhere else you’d typically consider a “safe place”, put all of that stuff in the Hitch Safe and truly pull a fast one on anyone looking to make a quick run with your goods.

The safety of this ingenious little device comes by way of a 4 key combination lock that turns your hitch into a hidden compartment inaccessible to outsiders. Even though it’s made of heavy and sturdy steel, installation is claimed to be rather easy. As long as your stow away valuables take up less room than the given example of 9 keys, a few credit cards, and a drivers license, you’re good to go. Of course, being the nerd that I am, I’d probably store some gadgetry in there such as spare cables, spare phone, etc.

Those of you who actually have a hitch, does this seem like an avenue worth investigating?
