The Nintendo 3DS — nifty. GoldenEye making a comeback on the Wii — Epic! For someone who is still considered a “young whipper snapper” by many age groups, news of a classic (to me) such as GoldenEye literally has me shaking.
The remake features Daniel Craig as Bond, kicking out the old favorite Pierce Brosnan. That right there may upset some more hardcore Bond loyalists, but I’m more interested in the actual gameplay. The original GoldenEye is hands down one of the best shooter games ever made even when compared to some of today’s bleeding edge games. The video that was shown off at E3 does highlight that the missions in general, while in the same place, look like they’ve been almost totally redone, save for a few classics (read: the infamous Facitly bathroom air vent scene).
Yeah, it’s pretty awesome. Look for GoldenEye to hit shelves this Christmas. Jump inside for the video and get ready to wait in anxiousness.

I know I’ve commented on claimed GoldenEye remakes several times over the last few years. But now more than ever, there really is a good chance we could see it GoldenEye reborn.
If you don’t remember, the original publisher of GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64 was Rare. However, they have stated time and time again that they have not, and do hot have any future interests in remaking GoldenEye — but Activision does. Thankfully, they have the almost never ending pockets needed to pay the sky high licensing in which to make it all possible.
You may recall Microsoft has also been trying over the last several year or two to get GoldenEye Classic up on Xbox Live for download. Though plenty of greed, red tape, and rights issues have stood in the way. But fresh reports from EuroGamer are painting a very convincing picture that we could see that hallowed game reappear this November on the Nintendo DS and Wii…

You know what I thought to myself when I was in the Honda shop last week and saw a beautiful flat black ‘06 CBR on a sweet sale? “The only thing that will make this better is rocket launchers…” Well wouldn’t you know it someone has already come along and done such a thing.
YouTube user jairust attached Estes rockets to the side of his ’06 Honda CBR and wired them up to be controlled with the touch of button. Pretty sweet if you ask me.
Perhaps if I actually had a motorcycle of my own — a stealthy, deadly looking flat black motorcycle — I might just attempt such a thing. The video of the rockets and bike in action is currently down. Jairust mentioned that due to unwieldy rockets, he would be uploading a second, more refined video showing off his creation. I just checked the YouTube link several times and found the original video has been removed. So I either caught him in between videos or it was removed by a higher power for some reason.
Whatever the case, I’m eagerly awaiting the updated video. How about you?

We’ve seen many hidden camera type gadgets wonder around here at GS. While a novel idea at first, the camera often ends up being pretty substandard, suffering from abysmal image quality. Not to mention, pens or other writing instruments seem to be the gadget of choice. Not every carries pens around. That’s where this car key remote camera comes in handy. Everyone has keys. The remote won’t actually get you in to any car, but the hidden camera stuffed inside will certainly get you the dirt on whatever subject your spying on. This particular hidden camera seems it may offer image quality that is at least a small step above the rest as native photo resolution is 1600 x 1200. Even if it doesn’t product the sharpest pictures, at least they’ll be bigger than a thumbnail right?
If still pictures aren’t good enough, motion picture can be had at 640 x 480 pixels w/ frame rates hovering right around 29 per second. Make sure your computer or whatever gadget you plan on playing back your ill gotten booty on supports AVI and WAV as those are the only video/audio formats support respectively. Finally, storing digital goods is done via microSD card slot. At $36 by itself or $63 w/ 8GB microSD, this little James Bond-esque gadget is actually pretty easy on the pocket book. Interested?

Get your tissues ready and prepare to weep. If you’re old enough to remember GoldenEye 007, (not only the greatest James Bond game ever, but one of the best games ever) and were hoping that it may make it’s way to a new console such as the Xbox Live Arcade or Wii Virtual Console, you’re going to be thoroughly disappointed. According to Rare, the company responsible for the N64 first person shooter, made it very clear that there isn’t much hope for future renditions or even ports of the game to come to modern consoles. A rather close summary would go along the lines of: “a snowball’s chance in hell”.
Again, not very encouraging to say the least. I know that I myself as well as hoards of games would have shelled out another $20-$30 to get a modern version/port of that game on new hardware. Sadly it looks as if those leaked shots of a hi-def GoldenEye “10th Anniversary Edition” are nothing more than a visual tease, taunting us from behind closed doors. god life sucks…

Cool effects, projection tricks, and 3D are a staple part of any geeks diet. The fine folks above staring at this seemingly inconspicuous house are having a grand ‘ol time. Some very rich people had a small get together showcasing someone’s talent for 3D projection tricks. The results are actually pretty darn neat. Hop on in for another picture showing what is supposed to be an “exploded house” and a video of the good stuff in action.

Ouch! Chalk the watchphone up there with the private island and jet you’ve been saving up for. The LG GD910 watch phone slated for release on Orange UK has been priced at $1,500! Granted it is very cool tech though not entirely a new concept still looks mighty sexy and appears appeared as if it had a good chance of actually selling quite a few…that was until the $1,500 floated by. Granted, I’m sure Orange will eat some of that price. But still, $500+ ensures the elite few will have a shot at this. Not to mention, if a U.S. carrier doesn’t pick this up (highly likely that they won’t) then that $1,500 will be eaten straight by the consumer. Oh well, the James Bond in all of us will have to live some other day, relinquishing himself to the innards of our minds for the time being. Godspeed good sir. Godspeed.

The luckiest carrier in the world (in my opinion) has just become Orange UK. Orange has announced that they will be the first carrier in the world to carry LG’s amazingly cool G910 watchphone. Available later this year with a current price of “pick a number”, many are sure to start shaking uncontrollably. Orange will offer it over their entire network footprint. For those of you who live in a cave and don’t know what the G910 is or simply need a refresher: 3G HSDPA, video calling, multimedia playback, and the holy grail of touch input. A pretty solid feature set. Hopefully this phone decimates all past attempts and wrist watch communication as the device and UI look simply gorgeous. Press Release aficionados can check out the official PR here while the more visual type come inside for a whole slew of pictures of the G910 in action.

I am a big James Bond fan. I don’t know if its the overall movies that I like more or just all of the cool gadgets that he has received in the past. LG is bringing James Bonds’ fictional watch phone to the public market with the GD910. Production on said device will begin later in ’09. Just because the phone is packed into a watch doesn’t mean they skimped on features. Below is a quick list.
- HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps
- Bluetooth
- Speakerphone
- Video Calling
- Voice Recognition
- Integrated music player
- Touchscreen
On top of the touchscreen functionality, there will be physical side buttons to further tweak your secret agent device to you liking. I want one! Two more pictures inside!
