Do you walk or ride your lawn? Simple question. Easy answer. An equally easy answer should come pretty naturally when showing any “Man’s man” a 100mph lawnmower — Yes, a lawnmower that moves at triple digit speeds. Obviously, such a unique and special machine is built for a special purpose. Since the lawnmower travels faster than pretty much every other lawnmower, I’m sure you can gather that a speed record is in order. Project Runningblade as it has been called uses a custom built Countax-based machine with more sophistication and developmental costs stuffed under the hood than most average cars.

Just in case you were thinking of using such a lawnmower to actually mow your lawn you can be at peace. After lapping the flats at 100+ mph, you can bring your mulching goddess home where she can get back to doing what she does best — eating grass — as one of the major requirements for record attempters is that the lawnmower have blazing speeds and mow grass on the same day.

100mph even in normal terms is fast. But just how fast is it really if one were trying to figure out how long it would take them to mow their yard at 100mph? Obviously, turning a lawnmower on grass doing 3 digits is impossible. But to answer the “what ifs”, a regulation sized professional soccer field could be completely mowed in 2 minutes and 42 seconds. Another way of putting it: 13,000 sq. yards in under 3 minutes. Cut. Wow. Sign me up!

I would love to take the Lightningblade past the century mark for sure. But can you imaging though how nerve wracking it must be to be riding something as unstable as a lawnmower at such speeds? Godspeed RunningBlade driver. Godspeed.
