You know, as much as I mention gadgets and other forms of digital tom geekery that in one way or another service alcohol, I wouldn’t be surprised of all of you started to think I was some sort of alcoholic. But such isn’t the case. And no, I’m not in denial either. Even still, regardless of alcohol consumption, you have to find an invention as clever and ingenious as the Bark 4 Beer Dog Collar Bottle Opener as a gift to all mankind.
The collar itself is pretty standard run of the mill nylon. The bottle opener itself is where it get’s interesting. Feel free to open whatever bottles you can find a full two feet from dear old dog’s neck all while he blankly stares at you — clever creatures they are.
Further quelling thoughts I’m some sort of alcoholic — there are plenty of other liquids that come in bottles requiring bottle openers besides beer. Is $14.95 too much to make your seemingly happy family friend even more useful in the walk we call life? For as much as I’ve seen some other gimmicky collars go, this is a steal.

Ready for a midday round of disappointment coupled with a dash of optimism? The Acer Liquid was to be a Snapdragon powered beast of a mobile device. For those with already wondering minds, be at ease as the Liquid is still coming and with a Snapdrgaon proc to boot. There’s only one problem. Acer is downclocking the CPU to 768MHz. Granted, that’s faster than most phones out there today and just 6 months ago would have garnered a slew of “ZOMG’s”. However, in today’s world with 1GHz/Snapdragon powered devices being leaked weekly it seems, 768MHz just isn’t going to cut it. Looking at the slide, perhaps it’s the anemic 1350mAh battery that’s the culprit for the rationing. Perhaps it’s not. All I can say is Acer better optimize the hell out of their Android build or else the Liquid is going to dry up — real fast. Feeling a little less enthusiastic about Acer’s Android debut or is 232MHz not that big of a deal to you?

Acer’s Liquid UI enhancements have finally been set free from the inner sanctums of Acer HQ. What you’ll notice is a subtly tweaked UI — not bone stock, though not as reworked as HTC’s Sense UI. Personally, I love the stock Android skin, Sense UI, and Acer’s take on Android as well. What can I say, I’m easily pleased. Besides the mildly touched UI above, Acer also deemed it necessary to reveal more specs both software and hardware based. On the software front, a touched up dialer, app switching controls, and “socially aware” contacts take the cake. Moving to more tangible things, that which we already know:
- 1GHz Snapdraggon brain clocked down to 728 MHz
- 3.5″ WVGA capacitive touchscreen
Again, hardware wise it’s nothing new. The battery in particular has me a bit worried that it’s going to peter out before you want to call it a day. That is, unless Acer has managed to wrestle a unicorn inside of this thing in which case anything is possible. Minor update I know. Hopefully it wets your appetite and at least holds you over until release time. Speaking of which, if you happen to catch that, let me know. Acer is trying to artificially build hype with a staggered revealing. *rolls eyes*
