In what shouldn’t be considered all that surprising given Microsoft’s hard stance on Xbox Live account hacking, famed hacker “Conflipper” found a warning message buried deep within Windows Phone 7 OS files. The message:
This phone has been banned from Xbox LIVE for violating the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use. To protect the Xbox LIVE service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about phone bans. There is no recourse for Terms of Use violations.
It sounds pretty much like the statement Microsoft issued last year after the big crackdown Xbox Live account hacking in which they announced permanent ban hammers for those caught doing the deed. Although, hacking a gaming console and mobile os are two completely different things. While one could argue hacking a gaming console is solely for illegal purposes, doing so to a mobile OS is a completely different story. There are plenty of useful, legal features that can be added to a mobile OS that the original developer either can’t or won’t add themselves. On that note, it’ll be interesting to see how Microsoft handles themselves.
Take note Xbox Live hackers, Microsoft is watching.
I haven’t seen the AppWall in person, but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy its splendor and beautiful eye candy without venturing to California to get a taste. Introducing: The AppWall Screensaver. Created by Polish developer, ” Peter Tuszynski ” (iApp), the AppWall is a pretty damn good copy of Apple’s AppWall that they’ve shown off at WWDC in the past. Though, unlike Apple’s “real” version, AppWall isn’t tied to real-time purchases. Instead, the user can pick several options and categories to which the screensaver can pull the top *insert number here* apps.
After the initial loading is finished, you can sit back and stare at its simple yet captivating beauty. Interested persons can score their own AppWall screensaver for free, right over here.

Our worst Xbox Live fears have just come true: Microsoft killed 1 vs. 100 Live! The first 2 seasons were pretty popular I thought. But apparently it just wasn’t enough. Supposedly, money and mismanagement were the two main reasons Microsoft put the kibosh on the game. In the end, 1 vs. 100 Live simply didn’t make Microsoft enough money. At the same time, the project and game development was passed between various employees over the last couple of years, ensuring that any streamlined development approach was effectively killed. (Seems Microsoft is having a lot of managment issues these days…KIN…need I say more?)
There is a light at the end of the tunnel though. The 1 vs. 100 team put together an entire framework for not only 1 vs. 100 Live, but future projects as well. If Microsoft can get their ducks back in a row and the right amount of resources designated to another similar style of game, we could end up with something even better than 1 vs. 100.
But for now, I’ll be crying in my beer, unable to decide what to do during the coming Friday nights…
If you’re an Xbox Live user, you’ve no doubt at least seen 1 vs. 100 Live on one of your weeks spent endlessly gaming through the night. For those who don’t know, it’s an awesome trivia show hosted over Xbox Live that gives players chances to win real prizes such as Microsoft points, cash, games, etc. After two seasons, I’d say it’s pretty damn popular as many of the Xbox Live users I talk to speak of many a night positioned in front of the TV, getting their trivia on.
But so far, Microsoft has remained tight lipped on season 3 of 1 vs. 100, stating that “No announcements concerning 1vs. 100 Live season 3 are vailable”. When questions regarding the upcoming season were presented to 1 vs. 100′s human host, Chris Cashman, the same answer was given — no one knows. It’s kind of sad if Microsoft is even considering killing 1 vs. 100. as it’s been a pretty large success.
What do the gamers out there think? Did you play 1 vs. 100 Live? Would your life be epicly changed if Microsoft nixed it? Leave it inside.

The next time you convince yourself that you need another nerf gun, take a good hard look at all of the store bought crap you’ve acquired. While fun to play with, they’re so unoriginal. Why not do as modder, “Moz”, and construct your very own nerf gun from two dollar store donors.
But Moz didn’t just make any rifle. This my friends is a complete working replica of the Halo Assault Rifle that shoots nerf darts! Slip inside and check out the vid to see it in action…
Who doesn’t love a nice patent leak detailing things to *hopefully* come? While things that go through the patent process don’t always materialize and come to light, the revealing of such things often gives mere mortals an earl look at what could come. For tonight, we’re looking at iTunes Live.
You’ll all remember Apple’s purchase of LaLa many weeks back. Unfortunately for LaLa fans, Apple shuttered the service. To make up for it, Apple converted all unused LaLa credit into iTunes credit to ease of the transition and hopefully turn said users into loyal iTunes users. We’ll see how that little ditty goes.
But the more important question is how exactly will this so called “iTunes Live” operate?
Well, if anyone has been paying attention to the bit of news on the latest Modern Warfare 2 DLC slated to be released on the 30th of this month, I have some absolute bollox news, the 5 multiplayer maps (two are re-releases of maps from CoD MW 1) are going to cost you 1200 M$ points, in regular human terms, that is a whopping $15.
Honestly, I have no idea what is going on in their heads that they feel the need to charge us soooo much money for something that really shouldn’t be more than $8, which is even pushing it. All we are getting is 3 brand new online maps, and 2 old maps that we probably got sick of in the first game.
Since this is being released on the xbox console first, we only havethe release date and the price for this console, no news yet on when these will be out for the ps3 and for the pc. We’ll keep you informed though.
If you remember, earlier in the week I told you about the upcoming DLC for CoD Modern Warfare 2, well, thanks to the Xbox Live Marketplace we now have what is contained in this Stimulus Package! Here is an image to the XBLM piece on the upcoming DLC:

I personally can’t wait for this, March 30th is going to be a huge day, not only is this DLC for Modern Warfare 2 coming out, we also have seen some rumors on the 2nd map pack for VIP members of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. What a friggin day that will be!
Hit me up and let me know your gamertag and we’ll pwn all the n00bs we can find!

It’s no secret that the general consensus surrounding NBC’s handling of the Olympics is that it sucks. Plain and simple — horrible. Between tape delays, “old farts”, and utter lack of any real selection of online content means for an increasingly digital generation, the Olympics was an epic let down. Don’t believe me or the countless other sites highlighting such travesties? Just look at Crimson Hexagon’s data (above) collected across various online sources, namely 20,000+ Twitter posts and 5,700 blog posts, social networking comments, etc.
While 20-40,000 data points are hardly enough to generalize across an entire country of 250 million+, the sentiment shared by the internet going crowd at least is pretty unanimous — NBC’s Olympic coverage sucks. Seeing as how I have to use a VPN to fake that I’m in another country just to watch a damn live stream of any particular event mean NBC is doing it all wrong. Very wrong. I can only hope that they either get their act straight for the next Olympics or someone else takes over. Because as it stands now, NBC is bad for the Olympics.
