Bendable bike deters thieves with it’s flexibility. Riding it is another story…

  • July 9, 2010 6:26 am

When someone tells you they have a new and innovative new locking mechanism for their bike, don’t be surprised if they whip out one of these bad boys. A bendable bike certainly puts a wrench in any thief’s plans for taking your beloved mode of transportation. Cut this lock and you’ve effectively screwed yourself over.

Of course, how stable can a bike actually be with the two of the most important supports being made of rubber? Unless we’re looking at some new space age/science fiction materials here, I don’t see how this would work all that well. Then again, I love being proved pleasantly wrong.

For when a simple car key just won’t do: The Aston Marton Watch Key thing

  • February 25, 2010 2:19 pm

$34k burning a hole in your pocket? Ya, thought not. For some however, that lump of cash can cause quite a bit of pain after a little while. Poor them. After dropping $200k+ on an Aston Martin Raptide (the greatest car on the planet I might add), that spare $34k could be seen not only as a pocket weight, but a burden as well. Luckily, the wealthy never have a shortage of options.

If you are one person lucky enough to own one of the finer vehicles on this planet, perhaps it’s time to consider upgrading — your key. Sure Aston Martin as well as countless other luxury car manufacturers turn out some pretty impressive sliced metal, but truth of the matter is — you need more. That’s precisely where the Car Watch Key comes in handy.

The AMVOX2 Rapide Transponder heralds the second generation of the revolutionary creation that sealed the ties between the Grande Maison from the Vallée de Joux and the legendary British luxury sports car manufacturer.

Released several months ago, it is the first mechanical watch developed with the ability to control access into a luxury sports car by means of a built-in micro transmitter system serves to lock and unlock the Aston Martin DBS car, while maintaining the key functions of the famous vertical-trigger mechanism equipping the pushpiece-free chronograph.

This nifty piece of gadgetry will unlock your Aston Martin thanks to a built in transceiver in the watch itself. An added bonus of course being that lump of cash in your pocket is no more. Sign me up. Now if only I could find a spare $34k and a neglected Aston Martin Rapide. Anyone willing to donate…?

As much as I joke and as simple of tech as this is, it’s still might cool. I want it.

Pull a fast one on thieves, Store your valuables in your trailer hitch with the “Hitch Safe”.

  • September 8, 2009 6:30 am

hitch-safe

Let me start by saying that when I am in need of a safe place to store a particular valuable, usually the inner sanctums of some sort of building or secure compartment in a car is my first choice. The makers of the “Hitch Safe” would like you to rethink your old perceptions of safety by including your trailer hitch in the short list of places you consider top secret and safe enough for your most precious items. Instead of keeping your dear dead grandmothers priceless wedding ring or thousands of dollars in cash in the safety of your glove box, under the front seat, or anywhere else you’d typically consider a “safe place”, put all of that stuff in the Hitch Safe and truly pull a fast one on anyone looking to make a quick run with your goods.

The safety of this ingenious little device comes by way of a 4 key combination lock that turns your hitch into a hidden compartment inaccessible to outsiders. Even though it’s made of heavy and sturdy steel, installation is claimed to be rather easy. As long as your stow away valuables take up less room than the given example of 9 keys, a few credit cards, and a drivers license, you’re good to go. Of course, being the nerd that I am, I’d probably store some gadgetry in there such as spare cables, spare phone, etc.

Those of you who actually have a hitch, does this seem like an avenue worth investigating?
