The nerdiest wedding ring you’ll see all week: The Memory Ring

  • July 13, 2010 6:44 am

We get it. You’re a nerd, a geek, an outcast from the popular norm. It’s ok. It’s more fun in our circle anyway. Gadgets and gizmos are a great thing to be captivated by. The only thing that tops that perhaps is finding someone to share that fascination with for a lifetime to come. Yes, I’m talking about the “M” word — Marriage.

For Ray Arifianto, a software developer engineer at Microsoft Game Studios, his marriage was capped with the ultimate tribute to geekdome — the flashdrive-i-fication of his wedding ring. As you can see, he had a freakin’ USB drive engraved into the ring. Though the most clever part is the inscription that is located on the inside of the band: “For a lifetime of memories”. Quite ironic given the “memory” that’s forever engraved on the top of his ring.

Anyone else have any better ideas?

The ring of choice for geeks looking to pop the question…

  • April 5, 2010 8:19 am

Being a nerd and finding that special lady is no small chore. It seems more often than not, our nerdy ways just aren’t understood by the female species. Though there is the rare case of stumbling onto sad specimen that knows even more about gadgets than you. If that happens, do all in your will to at least stay friends with her and if possible, go for the gold — marry her. Pretty deep stuff huh? It doesn’t have to be all showy and high dollar items. No sir. In fact, one of the most important aspects of a deepening relationship — the ring — can be affordable and show of your true geek side.

The ring you see before you is one that I’m sure any geek would proudly give and/or receive. Made out of some basic gold setting with a microchip implanted front and center instead of a precious rare gem means so much more I think. Topped off with the circuit board bed and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Any geeks already use this idea or thinking of it? Let me know how it goes…

Social networking butterfly updates Facebook and Twitter at the alter

Think you have a case of the social networking bug digging deep down inside of you? There’s one simple way to find out. Would you tweet or update your Facebook status when getting married…at the alter…in front of everyone? Just how social are you — more social than Dana Hanna (the guy) in the video above?
