Blinking LED ads to thrust us into the 9th circle of advertising hell

Using something as simple as blinking LED lights has incredible possibilities for fast and easy transmission of information and data. Now if someone in the gadget world such as manufacturers and 3rd parties can create apps and services to allow end users to interact with one another, this technology could really take off. Geeky dreams and hopes aside, one industry that is looking to employ such technologies is one that we could stand to lose a bit of interaction with — advertisers.

Advertisers in Japan have figured out a way to tweak the technology so that LED’s attached to ads can beam information to your phone. In their defense, the ads aren’t intrusive in the sense that you’re going to get beamed repeatedly as you walk down the street. Instead, users who see a billboard or ad and are seeking more info can point their phone at the sign and receive more info. While on one hand another way for ads and advertisers to invade our lives sucks, but at the same time, the technology in itself is really cool. It saddens me to even lust after such things as the US is years away from actually embracing and using any such technology for our mobile devices. What do you think: Is the technology so cool that even the ads won’t push you away? Or is it business as usual with these advertisers…?

Android concept makes current products seem downright archaic

Futuristic design with sleek contours and big touchable screens leave us simply awe-struck. The latest design from Twaiwan based Tryi Yeh is quite possibly the sleekest and coolest mobile device I’ve gazed upon yet. The all glass front while probably delicate is nothing short of gorgeous. The OLED buttons on the slide out panel is super cool and handy to boot. The only sad part about this phone is that it is still years off. We simply don’t have the technologies to make the battery last as long as the digital bits inside likely require. Taking a short trip into the future is always fun though isn’t it? A couple more pictures await your curious mind right inside.

For those of you who think that just because you’re near the top…you’re the best

I just got done reading one of, if not the best articles ever written in regards to a company that is losing sight. Boy Genius an avid BlackBerry user has voiced what so many BlackBerry users feel everyday — that their beloved CrackBerry is awesome in the hardware department. However, the software department is a joke, a downright failure. Now the OS is more than capable…three years ago. Putting it up against your Mobile OS X and Android shows just how behind RIM is in software terms.

The article by Boy Genius is definitely worth a read. I highly suggest you check it out, even if you don’t use a BlackBerry or iPhone.

SRS technology in lemans terms  is a technology that “re-energizes” lossy  music.  It works to add back the frequencies that encoding removes.  The effect is a more rounded, fuller sound.  Allen H. Gharapetian, the Vice President of Marketing for SRS Labs, revealed today that SRS Labs will greatly broaden their presence in the mobile world with “TruMedia”.   Soon, many new mobile devices will be packed with TruMedia allowing higher quality audio and video entertainment.  Soon the tinny sound of the mp3 era will replaced with full life like sound.
