iphone-mms-FINALLY

I’m more than sick of iPhone related posts today, but, this particular one needs to be seen. According to Engadget, MMS will officially be available on AT&T U.S. iPhones on September 25th. Way to stay on track and deliver on time guys.

Now, for the 5 iPhone users out there who haven’t already jailbroken or downloaded some modded carrier file…time to bust out the champagne and party long into the night over a feature that was launched way back in 2002. Congrats Apple…AT&T. And the rioting begins in 3..2..

Stick it to the man – Enable MMS on AT&T for U.S. users right now!

man-stick

If you hate the fact that AT&T is the sole reason that iPhone OS 3.0 is not going to be everything it could be at launch, take matters into your own hands and give AT&T the cold, hard, digital shoulder.  Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a master programmer or dive into system files.  All you need is a spare “dummy” AT&T phone.  With that phone do the following:

u can enable ur MMS settings… just do this….
-take sim out of iphone
-place into old ATT phone w/ MMS capabilities
-make a call or send a message
-check ATT site and see if phone changed
-go to https://mymedianet.wireless.att.com/
-with sim still in decoy phone register number on the website
-enter 4 digit passcode in decoy phone
-take sim out and put back into iphone
VIOLA~~~~~~~

So now we have the MMS open and ready as well as tethering.  While the MMS is less harmless than the tethering hack, I’m sure by this point you could care less.  Right?  Stick it to the man!

Apple approved MMS for iPhone a go…In Sweden…Not US :(

  • November 20, 2008 4:53 pm

It what is to many U.S. iPhone users gut wrenching news, iPhone users in Sweden will soon be able to claim something no other iPhone user in any other country can claim…Apple approved MMS.  According to Macworld Sweden, Apple has given Telia, the iPhone carrier in Sweden, the go ahead for developing their own MMS app for the iPhone.  A release time frame is currently somewhere around 2 months!  For us U.S. users, someone will either have to find a way to maybe hack/copy the Swedish version, or continue using Swirly MMS available only to jailbroken iPhones.  However, last time I checked Swirly didn’t play too well with AT&T here in America.  Apple, if you’re listening, PLEASE bring MMS to America already!!!  AT&T you listen up too.  Start spamming el Jobso’s mailbox with mail requesting permission to make your own MMS app.  And for the love of all things holy, DO NOT CHARGE EXTRA FOR IT!  We should have had it from the beginning.

MMS for iPhone?

  • November 19, 2008 4:50 pm

TelianSonera, a Swedish telephone company let slip recently that they were working on a workaround for MMS on the iPhone.  Whether it was an in house workaround or a collaborative effort with Apple wasn’t given, but one thing is for sure is that the iPhone is long overdue for MMS!  The reported arrival of MMS was mentioned as being around 2 months out.  Only time will tell if this rumor manifests into reality.
