Pac-man iPhone 4 wallpaper takes the cake.

  • July 6, 2010 7:08 am

One small feature (if you could call it that) introduced with iPhone 4 and iOS 4 was user changeable backgrounds on the main icon screen. Obviously, solid colors or simple background work best. While I’ve understandably seen some truly atrocious user-created attempts at design, this Pac-man wallpaper is easily one of the geekiest and coolest wallpapers for any iPhone 4/iOS 4 user. What do you guys and gals think?

The ultimate birthday cake: The “Pac-Man arcade console cake”

  • February 9, 2010 7:22 pm

This year for your birthday, don’t settle for just any cake. Normal people eat normal cake. We’re far from normal here at Gadgetsteria. And chances are ,if you’ve come here more than once, you too fit the same bill that we do. Hey, don’t take it as a criticism. It takes a special kind of person to be a geek. Aaaaaand back on topic…

The traditional cake is out. The geek cake is in. What exactly constitutes a geek cake? Anything really. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an electronic or gadget. Though those things certainly don’t hurt. If I had to vote on what I thought was “the ultimate” geek cake, something retro would definitely come to mind. Pac-Man perhaps?

What you’re looking at above is the work of Seattle’s Jet City Cakes. Attention to detail and all the little trinkets weren’t spared. Everything form the red tipped joystick to the Pac-Man dots on screen to the fake coin slot — this cake has it all. Better than any tricky design however is the message. In this case, it’s a heart warmer. All I can say is that I hope my kids look up to their dad and feel the need to buy him an ultra geeky cake, Pac-Man or not.

Almost a shame to eat such a work of art isn’t it?

Projectors bringing “Rave Room” to a humble abode near you

Flashy lights, fog machines, techno music, and bodies everywhere — a good old fashioned rave. Want your own? Take a look at the picture of the room above. Using several strategically positioned projectors and some clever programming and a technique called “deskewing”, the rave room above can take shape. The multi-colored look and animation that has been described as “Pac-Man”-like definitely makes for an interesting twist on your average, boring, boxy room. However, just think about how cool it would be for actual lights to be installed in the walls and do away with the projectors all together. While more normal style lighting would be expensive and take up too much space, the OLED’s of tomorrow could certainly power and illuminate such a room. Projectors today, OLED’s tomorrow. Oh future grace us with your presence. Take something trippy and hop on in for an outta’ this world experience captured on video…

Pac-Man Rubik’s Cube brings old school gaming to an old school toy

Depending on who you are, Rubik’s Cubes are either a pleasant yet thought provoking way to pass time or they’re an evil tool put forth by a Satan himself. Definitely two extremes. In reality, you either get it or you don’t. Regardless if you even like Rubik’s Cubes or not, the Pac-Man Rubik’s Cube causes a retro nostalgia to wallow up from within the older gamers bringing them back to a simpler time without fancy graphics and hundreds of hours of game play. In it’s completed state you’ll notice each side adorned with one of the following: Pac-Man, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, Clyde, and ghosts surrounding Pac-Man as he eats a cherry. Often times it is the little, simple things in life that bring the most joy or at least the most entertainment. If the mood is striking and you feel your old time gamer getting a second wind, stop on by PixelBrush’s Etsy page to pick up your Pac-Man cube. Heck, for only $7 how could you not?

Stap Man stapler brings nostalgiac gaming to your desk

If you’re looking for ways to make your office more nerdy and geeky but want to keep it on the downlow either because you’re embarrassed or you simply can’t be too flashy at work, the Stap Man Stapler is your thing. Featuring a design that obviously looks very familiar to an old classic gaming creature, Pac-man, this stapler manages to bring a subtle level of geekiness to your workspace. Why is it in black as opposed to the more widely known original yellow Pac-man color? More than likely the color change is to avoid a lawsuit. Though it’s nothing that a little personal customization via spray paint couldn’t fix. Still, even a darker Pac-man gets us excited. You can pick up your Stap Man Stapler from Panik Design for around $26 USD.
