So far most in the Android realm have been enamored with this so called HTC Passion. With a lovely 3.5″ AMOLED and 1GHz Snapdragon processor, on paper it’s easily the best Android phone to date. Unfortunately, word of delays are making their rounds, destroying what little happiness we had been reserving for the holiday gadget shopping season. But such is the way of the world. A few days back, HTC’s entire product map was leaked for the 1H of 2010. In it was a rather Passion-esque “Bravo”. The only real differences being slightly more RAM and a slightly larger screen. Well wouldn’t you know it, HTC is making two versions of the Passion. The “Passion” as we’ve come to know and love so far is supposedly not a stateside model — odd considering Verizon’s Holiday & Passion splash page on their website.
Instead, the Passion will formerly take on the name of “Bravo” once it makes the trek across the big blue puddle separating the US from Europe. I’m sort of liking Bravo, though not as much as the Passion moniker. It just seemed more lust worth I guess. Silly names aside, all that matters is what comes inside. For that, The Passion/Bravo/*insert clever name here* won’t disappoint. Look for at least Android 2.0 to come standard with 2.1 more likely by the time this little gem surfaces in retail outlets. Discuss away…

I’m still breaking my DROID in and yet here comes the next Android king pin, the HTC Dragon. From what we know so far, this phone is going to be a beast running a 1GHz Snapdragon processor with 256MB RAM and Android 2.0 tucked inside. If the estimated release of early to mid December is correct, do you see any DROID early adopters feeling a bit of early upgrade remorse?
I’ll admit, I could have waited until mid-December to get a new phone. But like many of you out there my instant urges needed fulfilling. I’m confident that even after the Dragon is released with a bigger screen and faster processor (and Sense UI too), I’ll only be slightly envious of Snapdragon owners. I’ll still love my DROID through and through. Plus, after going touchscreen only for a while on the iPhone and now spending time with Android 2.0′s onscreen keyboard, I can say that Android’s onscreen while easily the second best soft keyboard just isn’t as good as the iPhone’s. Because of that, the physical keyboard on the DROID will keep it higher up on my list for the time being.
Now if HTC releases a device similar to the Dragon with a hardware keyboard…well then all bets are off…

You’re speculation/rumor light should be going full bore right now as what is about to be presented to you is pretty lofty though not so much so that it is completely unbelievable. Starting off, the rumor is based off of a DigiTimes article (please bare with me…give it a chance) that Verizon will be launching both the HTC Desire and HTC Passion (Google phone) in the 4th quarter, bringing the end of year Android count to 3. The reason for the speculation and thought provoking conversation comes from a quote by DigiTimes that doesn’t quite add up.
