OS 6.0 leaked or clever photoshop?

  • March 19, 2010 8:55 am

Supposedly, the above images you see depict the still a ways away OS 6.0. At first glance, I kinda of like it. I mean, it’s a tad cartooney, buy definitely a lot more “modern” looking than any past RIM UI’s. Some further tweaking needs to be done though before I’d call it “finished”.

Of course, with leaked shots on something as large as this, naysayers will come out in droves. At this point, I also happen to be one of those naysayers. As BBLeaks, CrackBerry, and many commentors across both sites have noted, the screenshots look eerily similar to the “concierge app” shown off at DevCon. Not to mention, th e overall look while progress, doesn’t quite follow RIM’s traditional standards. Of course, they could be taking new steps into uncharted territories.

As cool as it has the potential to be, I think these claimed OS 6.0 images are fake. I just hope RIM has some rather large UI updates like this in store for the real OS 6.0. What’s your call?

New Macbook Pros go on to live another day in secrecy. Today is reserved for Valentines Day themed accessories and Aperture 3.

Looks like the validity of yesterday’s Best Buy internal screenshot is still in question. After several painstaking hours of hitting the refresh button over, and over again, the Apple Store is finally back up — without any new hardware.

No, folks. It seems the reason for the global downtime was for Aperture 3 and — Valentines Day themed accessores. Super. For the professionals out there, I’m sure this new Aperture release is a big deal. And believe me, I’m happy for ya. But I can’t help but feel disappointed my dreams and the dreams of countless Mac users alike were broken. The Valentines Day accessories — ya, woo hoo.

And so we carry on…

Have we just seen the Apple Tablet? NOPE! [Fake]

  • January 26, 2010 6:58 am

Why hello there beautiful. Is this…could it be…the Apple Tablet we’ve all been lusting and wishing over the last several weeks? It sure does look pretty legit, almost too legit. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is too legit and in fact a fake — a good fake at that.

Don’t believe me? I was a little skeptical myself of the tablet and Macbook’s sheen and shine of the logo. After a brief search online, I not only found others sharing my suspicion (Jeremy from LiveDigitally) but also someone who easily cleared it up and showed how you could tell the image was fake. The first sign as I just touched on is the Apple logo reflection that bounces almost infinitely back and forth between the displays and their reflections.

The second and more clear sign that it’s a fake is shown in the picture above and right which shows the noise profile of the tablet (Posterous). As you can see, everything else is grainy except for the tablet. That my friends is a clear indicator that it was gingerly, very gingerly placed on top of that poor saps MBP. So again, a very good Photoshop debunked.
