Did you really think Motorola was going to let a brand name attached to one of the hotest mobile gadgets ever — EVER! — to simply die off?

Motorla could be in the early stages of getting back on the “RAZR” marketing machine…

Verizon Wireless Nabbing A White Droid RAZR In Time For The Holidays?

Motorola’s line of manly looking, chiseled phones are generally covered in lots of dark hues, sharp edges, and at times, metallic looking materials. But in the near future, perhaps as soon as this holiday season, things could be getting a bit brighter as a new white Droid RAZR has popped up in VZW’s internal device management system.

The “holiday” claim is nothing but pure speculation on our part. But honestly, what better way to kick of sales of a white phone than during the Christmas season where sales are sure to be at their prime (and there’s theoretically white/snow in many parts of the country)? Of course, there are other months with snow in them too, so we may just have to wait until early 2012 after all.

Review: Motorola Droid RAZR

  • November 11, 2011 10:12 am

The Droid RAZR; a name that both excites and worries us. The old clamshell RAZR was once a great phone that set the bar for all feature phones of its time. But a reluctance by Motorola to move on from the basic shape cast them into near bankruptcy as each and every new phone became a simple repeat of the last. Now many years later the “RAZR” name is back with an indistinguishable face and a feature set that demands respect. On that same note, many would argue Motorola is once again falling into old habits — releasing the same basic phone many times over with but a simple physical alteration and fancy new name.

This RAZR is a very different beast from that of its distant clamshell sibling. Everything from the list full of top-end specs to the (sorry)…razor thin design oozes sophistication and speed, but is it enough to hold the Android crown considering the Android platform’s flagship device, the Galaxy Nexus, is due in just a couple of weeks? Catch the full review after the break…

UK Motorola RAZR Release Pushed Back Until Next Week.

  • November 2, 2011 8:50 am

Can a phone that was never given an actual release date be…”delayed”? In the technical sense, no. But in the world of gadget hounds like us, “official” release dates are known days, weeks, and sometimes months in advance. On that note, UK online retailer, Clove, has told us via email that the Motorola RAZR will not launch in the UK on November 2nd as originally believed (November 1st was also an alleged launch day):

“Unfortunately we have just heard that the RAZR release will be delayed until next week.

No reason given for the delay at the moment, we did think the 1 [November] and then the 2 [November] were pretty solid, especially as the 2nd was reconfirmed last Friday.”

Bummed?

Official Motorola DROID RAZR Image Leaks. Incredibly Un-unique.

  • October 17, 2011 5:40 pm

If the Bionic didn’t tickle your fancy and Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Nexus isn’t your cup of tea either, perhaps the currently unannounced new kid on the block, the Motorola DROID RAZR — yes, they’re bringing the name back — will suit your needs. A determined Android fan found the image above buried in a web page on a Motorola teaser site for the phone.

The RAZR will follow the same basic guidelines as other high-end Android devices, meaning a dual-core processor (rumored to be 1.2 GHz) and 1 GB of RAM are a given. Other almost certain features include a large 4.3″ qHD display and high-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording capabilities. Of course, the real reason you should care about the RAZR is how incredibly thin it is — Motorola’s marketing campaign will say it’s the thinnest smartphone around.

With all that said, how many ways can you make a modern all-touchscreen smartphone? If you’re really good there’s at least a couple ways to go about it. Unfortunately for Motorola it looks like they’ve run out of ideas — again. The RAZR really isn’t all that different from the Bionic which isn’t all that different from the X2, which isn’t… you get the idea. To us it appears Motorola is taking a page from RIM’s playbook (no pun intended) and changing up a few tiny (read: very tiny) details, maybe bumping up a spec or two, and calling it a day.

Motorola: Wake us up when you’ve got something worth getting excited over again. Simply bringing back the “RAZR” name and participating in this ridiculous race to the thinnest phone won’t do it.

Look for the official unveiling of the RAZR to happen in the very near future. (Tomorrow keeps getting tossed around.)

Alleged Specs For Motorola DROID HD (RAZR/Spyder) Leaked, “Confirmed”.

  • October 14, 2011 10:15 am

BGR is reporting what their source claims to be the “official” DROID HD (RAZR/Spyder) specs:

  • 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4.3″ qHD display, and LTE

According to the source, the HD is “faster, thinner, smarter, stronger” than the iPhone 4S to boot. How those paper specs translate to real-world enjoyment remain to be seen. But as it stands now, the HD is looking like quite the object of desire. Sounds like a nice little iPhone 4S vs. Motorola DROID HD fight is in store, no?

Single slot GTX 470/480 debuting at Computex?

  • May 19, 2010 7:27 am

In the land of PC gaming, two camps reign supreme — ATI and Nvidia. Are you a fanboy of either manufacturer or do you tend to mosey on with whomever has the best chips at the moment? Regardless, I’m sure you’ve heard of Nvidia’s latest GF100 “Fermi” chips and the GTX 4xx series graphics cards they power.

One thing that’s been a hot (no pun intended) button issue is the heat these new cards put out. Even with Nvidia’s claims that they were designed to run hot, nerves continue to have their limits tested. Along those same lines, because the cards run so hot and need ample cooling, a two-slot design is pretty much required. Unless you’re Galaxy…

Does the Motorola Motus show Moto returning to their “Razr Rut”? 2-4 years of Cliq/Droid/Motus-like copies ahead?

  • November 20, 2009 8:18 am

moto-motus

It’s been two weeks now since the Droid was released. A week ago I gave my impressions after several days with the device. While the Droid had a form factor similar to the Cliq — a more teenage/younger generation target audience — the overall improvements in internals and external hardware as well as more advanced software pegged the Droid higher up on the food chain. So two big phones for Motorola after years of epic failure after epic failure. And now, a third device from Motorola has been caught on camera, the Motorola Motus (shown above). Can you recognize anything? Three big devices featuring the same basic design. Can anyone say Razr Rut II? With that said, is Motorola setting themselves up for another 2-4 year failure?
