We’ll go on the record and say the dedicated fan base of gta4.net are awesome. How else would you describe a collection of screenshots 80,000+ images strong covering every inch of Grand Theft Auto’s Liberty City?
Using a handy script, the dedicated gamers collected over 80,000 photos and stitched them into roughly 3,000 panoramas. According to Adam from gta4.net, “All roads are covered, except for a few on/off-ramps that weren’t very interesting”. Consider us impressed. As bonafied GTA junkies, we don’t see any GTA-related story topping this anytime soon.
Interested individuals can now stroll around Liberty City and see it just as Niko would right over here.

Not even 24 hours ago we wrote about a potentially troubling problem with the recent 3.61 PS3 firmware update. Specifically, users were claiming that said update was causing their PS3 to overheat and/or die (receive the dreaded yellow or red light of death). Sony came out and said that it was RockStar’s LA Noir causing the issue. RockStar fired back and said it was Sony’s update to blame. Now, both companies have come forward and said neither entity is at fault and that it is something else causing PS3s to over heat:
“We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3’s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise.”
In our previous article from yesterday, the comments kept coming in as the night progressed. Likewise, searching around the web on the same topic will net many more accounts of people supposedly affected by something — either Sony’s update or LA Noir (or possibly a rouge unicorn). Who’s lying?

Why isn’t this a fine way to end a Friday — Grand Theft Auto is officially coming to Mac. That is, if a Rockstar community Q&A hosted on the company’s Facebook Page materializes into reality. When questioned about the whole GTA/Mac topic, Rockstar simply responded by saying:
“Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas would all indeed be released for Mac…most likely later this year.”
Any release would be a blessing. Beating good ‘ol St. Nick to the living room would be even better. Here’s to hoping the devs involved can make it happen. Any Mac gamers out there excited to hear GTA’s making the jump? Or are you already turned off by the lack of any GTA IV news?

Call me a renegade, an outlaw, or someone who simply doesn’t like authority — I love the Grand Theft Auto series. It isn’t so much the killing innocent civillians, destroying cars, or shooting up random things as it is more the freedom to do whatever and go wherever I want. It is that unbound gameplay that truly draws me in. Of course, blowing up an intersection full of cars is always fun too.
Apple markets the iPhone/Touch as “the” mobile gaming platform. And in most aspects, it is. No mobile platform has as many games as the iPhone does. The diversity and visual candy that is finally coming forth from the iPhone is quite impressive indeed.
WIth all of that said, you can imagine I’m just a liiiitle bit excited with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the iPhone. Finally, the game that has been rumored and leaked for many months is finally here. Mind you, we’ve been spoiled for some time now with PS2/3 and Xbox 360 graphics in the newer ull 3D style of gameplay. The iPhone, as capable as it is, is still a mobile device. Top down gaming is back. Well, it’s sort of a blend of top down and a more modern full 3D experience.
In short: It’s a lot of fun. Though one thing does get highlighted again — the lack of any physical gaming buttons will keep this from being the best it could be. The onscreen soft buttons are some of the best in the iPhone gaming league. But at the end of the day, you simply can’t beat a good old fashioned controller/physical buttons for gaming.
I’ve done enough chattering. Mosey on over to the App Store and pick up your copy of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars for the low price of $9.99. Considering the price of GTA on any other console, $9.99 is a steal. Wouldn’t you say?

I don’t write about games a whole lot here on Gadgetsteria. The reason being that if I’m not sitting in front of a computer or phone writing an article, the few opportunities I get to play games are just that — playing games. I don’t have nearly enough time to start reviewing games too. Sad I know. We all have our favorite game. One that we could spend hours playing over and over again with no end in sight. My personal favorite is Grand Theft Auto. More specifically, Grand Theft Auto IV. To date it is the best graphically speaking as well as involved. It’s just fun. For many fans of the GTA series, with each subsequent release we’re left wondering if this is the last sequel. I can enthusiastically say that GTA IV is not the last GTA game from Rockstar as Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games started letting small details slip about the franchises next installment.
If you’re looking for a plot, main character, city name, or any other number of variables I’m sorry to say that you won’t find it here. You won’t find it anywhere yet actually as this slipping of “details” was more of “thank god it will exist” type of thing. True to GTA form however, the environment and city of GTA 5 will come first, after which the characters and plot will fall into line. Houser also shared that the inspiration for GTA came from (surprise surprise) his love for watching car chases on TV and that GTA is the depiction of what the real world would look like if the media world set the rules. Fair enough. All I know is I like some good ‘ol simulated theft and tom foolery. You?
