Look back in the chemical archives of your memory, all the way to October 2009 when Sony launched a successor to the PSP, the PSP Go. Even before it launched, many panned it for the lack of a UMD drive (after Sony so eagerly campaigned for the format), smaller and less stellar screen, and most importantly, everyone disliked how there wasn’t any simple way to get purchased UMD games onto your UMD-less device without spending more money — a big sticking point.
After a less than exciting few months on sale, the PSP Go may have another “grand opening” in the near future if sources of Gamervision are correct. These sources claim that Sony is planning a “re-launch” party accompanied by a price drop to get everyone all excited about the so fare failed mobile gaming device. Will it work if it turns out to be true? It’s certainly possible. Though Sony is going to have to be a lot less asinine about UMD transfers/backups before I will go anywhere near it.
Feel the same?

For now we’ll hop aboard the rumor train as it looks might nice. The stop is a date to which we’ll see Google emerge from the Android crowd and release their own hardware. The logistics of such a move have been battled back and forth for several months as similar rumors come and go with many people either for or against such a move. Given the very nature of the open environment, it’s hard to see Google not trying their own hand at it…again. The G1 while not a “Google Phone” in the purest sense was designed with a strong hand on Google’s part. That particular piece of hardware wasn’t everyone’s favorite. Now that the platform has matured and several good hardware designs have come forth, perhaps Google is ready to give it another go, no?
The source for the latest bout of rumors comes from a couple TechCrunch sources based in the Asian continents of the world — namely Korea and Taiwan. It is there that the typical smartphone manufacturers have employees who leak information to the rest of us. (For those brave soldiers we thank you.) According a few unnamed TechCrunch sources, the upcoming Google phone will showcase everything that is Google. Everything from hardware to software will be meticulously designed and crafted specifically to Google’s strict specifications.
With the normal responses of “Google wouldn’t do that because….” and “They are becase…..”, we’ll simply ask a nice and easy “yes/no” question.
Will Google release their own phone next year if ever?

Even if your Christmas tree is a bit sparse and your holiday meal is a microwave dinner delight, you can rest assured that you won’t lose any sleep over any of Apple’s pricing this fine Black Friday. If a leaked poster is to be believed, Black Friday 2009 will be quite a winner for Apple with a rather rare showcasing of generosity by the Cupertino giant. The supposed discounts as they appear:
- Up to 15% off of all accessories, hardware, and software
- Up to 25% off of all Macs (Hello 27″ Core i7 iMac)
- **iPhone and iPod Shuffle excluded
A bit bewildered as to why iPods, the device that is losing steam is getting the most off? That’s the answer to the question — slowing sales means deeper discounts. Well, I assume anyway. As for the rest of the deals, they look pretty darn good. Enough to coax you into opening that wallet of yours?

If you haven’t been following the daily builds of Chromium for Mac, you may not realize just how far along the browser has come. In it’s current form it has pretty much replaced my need for Safari on my Mac, though occasional crashes and glitches to rear their ugly head from time to time. Though such things are expected on a beta product that isn’t supposed to be released until 1H of 2010. Contrary to earlier reports however, Chromium Mac users may be getting an early Christmas present from Google in the form of a shiny new browser.
Meeting earlier in the week, Google employees Eric Schmidt and Sergey Brin were heard discussing several pertinent matters in a “state of technology and markets” meeting. While a release date for Chromium for Mac wasn’t mentioned or even hinted at, the urgency that the two seemed to convey on getting a Mac version out there could highlight an uptick in development at Google HQ. Pushing out a new Mac version of Chrome sure would make Christmas a lot more merry wouldn’t you say?

Rumors. How we love them, hope for their transgression into reality, and ultimately finding a heavenly slice of life when they do so. So far, I haven’t seen a single Android handset that makes me want to cough up money to cancel my contract and buy new hardware. Don’t get me wrong, I love Android and can’t wait to make the switch. It’s just that the hardware is lacking. While 528 MHz was fast a couple years ago and still actually is fast, it’s not that fast anymore. With the 1GHz HTC Leo unfortunately going the WinMo route, Android hopefuls who are still waiting for their “savior” are hungry for what could be.
The “could be” will soon “be” as some extremely lucky XDA developers, Reignzone being one, somehow got their hands on an experimental HTC build. You know where this is leading.

So far I’ve held off on really mentioning anything about the iTablet because so often rumors have come and gone with no tangible object in site. Not to mention, such rumors just drum false hope and drama. However, a new light has been cast on this much sought after gadget by way of a treasure trove of information that highlights some of the best features of the tablet that may or may not exist. Continue on inside for the full rundown…

If there is anything more clamored for, more sought after, or most lusted after in the BlackBerry world, a full qwerty + touchscreen model is no doubt near the top of the list. Why with the best of both worlds, your work day will just be that much more efficient right? While there has been much speculation the last several months over a still unseen and undocumented BlackBerry “Magnum”, which is to bring the hallowed touch + qwerty combo, today’s leaking of information could signal a change in the winds. If the info from Cool Guy Reports has any weight, we could see the holy grail of BlackBerries released very soon. How soon? How about before the BlackBerry Essex which itself isn’t only a month or two off. Forgetting the Essex, the holy grail Berry as of now appears to have the name “Dakota” (we’ve seen that before too), feature a full qwerty keyboard, GSM 3G, trackpad, and a touchscreen (multi-touch?). Again, development is as quoted by Cool Guy, “ahead of the Essex” meaning a late ’09 release isn’t too far out of the question. Though without any actual leaks of mock-ups or pictures so close to a reported release my inner geek still says the release is further off. Care to share?

If you love slaving through FCC documents and website html looking for places that site admins and FCC employees slip up, you may find this next tidbit right up your little alley. Looking at the picture above, we can all deduce that an Android phone by Samsung codenamed the T939 will *hopefully* very soon make it’s way to the public spot light on TMO USA. Now, we all know TMO USA is looking to get the Samsung Bigfoot into our hands before ’09 wraps up. We also already know that the Samsung Bigfoot was listed as having specs such as a 3.2″ AMOLED touchscreen display along with speedy wifi included. Supported frequency bands (a good indicator of which carrier will be picking this up) are still a no show. It is a stretch at this point to try and match this T939 mystery device to any of the known up and coming devices. Still…
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this phone could be the Samsung Bigfoot that many of us have been waiting for. Android power house device with touchscreen and a keyboard. Of course, it could also be the Samsung Galaxy as an actual slide-out keyboard isn’t mentioned in this particular document. Heck, it could even be the replacement to the Behold, cleverly named the Behold 2. Even more of a stretch, could the Behold 2 morph into or replace the inside code name of Bigfoot or Galaxy?
Still, I’m going to place my apples in the Bigfoot basket because frankly…that’s all I want! While this is all pure speculation for now, with certain specs starting to match up, I wouldn’t be surprised if we are watching the early stages of the Bigfoot being publicly born. Excited?

The wait for a 3G BlackBerry on T-Mobile USA has been a long, long, long road. Watching carrier after carrier steal all of the good speedy devices can certainly become discrouraging after many cold shoulders. However, TMO USA users caught a second wind when it was announced that an upcoming version of the Onyx, the BlackBerry 9700 would be coming to T-Mobile — with 3G no less! Building upon those previous known tidbits, a claimed reliable source to TMO news is reporting that the TMO 3G toting BlackBerry 9700 could be coming as early as the first week of November. Now, since that is still two months out, and the fact that this date isn’t set in stone or verified by any major parties means the legitimacy is up in the air. Still, it gives TMO users a reason to stick around just a tad longer. Bouncing off the walls yet?
