Catch the dirrty dirt with the “Voice activated Wall Socket Spy Camera.

  • October 23, 2009 8:51 am

Even though we featured a spy camera of sorts earlier this morning, this variation of the spy camera is just plain cool. Plus, with all of this spy talk I’m eager for some R&R time with a comfy couch, gallon of ice cream, and a James Bond marathon. Fuzzy slippers might even make the cut *nervously shifts eyes*.

Spy cameras usually have one general flaw — they require the operator to manually push some sort of button which can lead the one being spied upon to suspect something less than kosher. For those looking to take their spying to the next level, the Voice Activated Wall Socket Camera is just thing tool to add to your collection.

The appearance is rather odd for a socket. I’m not sure if it comes in different styles for different countries as a socket pictured above in my mid-western house just wouldn’t quite hold that element of surprise I’m looking for. Although, the voice activated quality redeems this gadget for the most part.

The voice activation however is the featured item of this camera. Once voices nearby rise above 65db, the camera automatically starts recording for up to 5 minutes after voices cease. Storing your secrets can be done via TransFlash cards in sizes up to 8GB — that should hold plenty for even the more serious geeks/spy’s in training.

Privacy fears are probably piquing right about now for many of you and for good reason. Anyone can install this. But remember, it’s not hard to spot this if you really pay attention. The socket formation like your normal socket. Get ‘em while they’re hot (or removed by law enforcement).

Car Key Remote comes complete with hidden camera — James Bond Edition

  • October 23, 2009 5:01 am

We’ve seen many hidden camera type gadgets wonder around here at GS. While a novel idea at first, the camera often ends up being pretty substandard, suffering from abysmal image quality. Not to mention, pens or other writing instruments seem to be the gadget of choice. Not every carries pens around. That’s where this car key remote camera comes in handy. Everyone has keys. The remote won’t actually get you in to any car, but the hidden camera stuffed inside will certainly get you the dirt on whatever subject your spying on. This particular hidden camera seems it may offer image quality that is at least a small step above the rest as native photo resolution is 1600 x 1200. Even if it doesn’t product the sharpest pictures, at least they’ll be bigger than a thumbnail right?

If still pictures aren’t good enough, motion picture can be had at 640 x 480 pixels w/ frame rates hovering right around 29 per second. Make sure your computer or whatever gadget you plan on playing back your ill gotten booty on supports AVI and WAV as those are the only video/audio formats support respectively. Finally, storing digital goods is done via microSD card slot. At $36 by itself or $63 w/ 8GB microSD, this little James Bond-esque gadget is actually pretty easy on the pocket book. Interested?
