It’s been quite a while since we’ve highlighted a steampunk’d piece of life that’s rendered us truly speechless. It’s been so long in fact, we don’t remember the last time such an event occurred. With that said we’re pretty sure this steampunk’d 1,800 sq. ft. apartment in New York City’s Chelsea district is the pinnacle of steampunk ideology. 500 lb. gears, vintage recliners, a door that is a friggin’ submarine portal, sepia colored concrete floors and more ooze the old time look at every turn. There’s even a 32-foot Zeppelin model that lights up the living room! Literally everything in this ultimate man/geek cave is designed to model the that steampunk junkies live and die for.

Seriously, you need to check this out. Hop past the break for a video showing off the steampunk goodness as well as a gallery chock full of eye candy…

You know how it is — blending the old with the new. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn’t. In the case of this Steampunk-ified time keeper complete with OLED display, I’d say yes, it did work quite well.

With a 128 x 128 display, temperature gauge, and range finder, not only is this a timeless accessory, it’s an actual usable piece of gadgetry as well. Don’t ya love it when you can actually use that stylish tech?

We’ll rationalize our decision to mention it on the fact that it has spark plugs, hence it’s an electronic of sorts. Fine by me. Would you ride off into the sunset with it? Props to designer Solifague Design. You make a mean bike.

Some call it addiction, some call it passion. Whatever you call it, the Steampunk genre of gadget modding has a loyal following no less. We’ve some pretty determined and unique creations pass by here. But the Victorian Organ Command Desk that resides in Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum’s house looks to be the best and most complete ‘punkified mod of a gadget I’ve seen yet. (Of course, I say that every time…) But this particular mod is but one small part of an overall bigger picture — The Steampunk House. Yes, their entire house is tweaked to turn back the pages of time back a couple centuries.

But today, all we care about is the Organ Desk because, well, it’s a computer and that’s what we’re all about — electronics. Take a gander at a few of the pics below then stop on by Steampunk Workshop for a deeper look at the couple’s Steampunk’d lifestyle. If Steampunk stuff is your thing, prepare to drool — a ton.

Lovers of old things and old looking things rejoice. The Steampunk movement is alive and well. In particular, Steampunk-ified gadgets are quite the site. Taking something that is technologically advanced and then blending styling cues from the 1800′s is quite the combination. Such a sight can easily be seen with the Steampunk Flash drive above.

It’s not the first nor will it be the last. But in there here and now, it’s certainly cool enough to stare at for at least a few seconds. But that’s where the fondness will stop. Though the drive features a slightly higher than average 8GB of storage, the price for the custom old fashioned design will set you back $250 bones. Is it worth it to you?

We’ve seen plenty of steampunk-style gadgets come through here, some not so great. Conversely, some steampunk gadgets have been downright awe-inspiring. But all of those deal with a single ‘punk-ified gadget. The “Steampunk Desktop” created by Old Time Computer” goes to show what going past 10, and on to 11 can do. Clearly not content with merely going through the motions, OTC went for it all. Looking at all the old time materials and new fangled digital goodness working in harmony, I’d say they succeeded.

What’s your favorite steampunk gadget?

When I seek out a new pair of headphones, the one and only feature I care about is audio quality. Fit is a close second. Appearance however doesn’t even come close. But headphones have become so much more in recent years as mp3 players and smartphones have driven us to block out the outside world.

The headphones you see above were designed by William Gerwin and feature not only that Steampunk design that is captivating everyone, but a video camera mounted to the side to capture all of your life’s travels. Affordable? Probably not. Cool looking? Very much so. Would you strap these to your head?

What can’t LEGO’s do or be morphed into? That seems to be the question that keeps popping up in my head. I mean, the little plastic blocks have even been turned into salt shakers. What do you do after that? A recreation of the famous 1902 sci-image featured in “Le Voyage dans la lune” of course.

Looking at the picture above, the fact that no detail was spared is easily apparent. The maker responsible, Guy Himber, is no stranger to LEGO/steampunk creations as a quick peek at the link in this sentence proves. Clicking on through will provide a pretty impressive gallery of other works of art by Mr. Himber himself that will no doubt awe the geeks out there. Think you can top that?

Fans of the wild west, classic movies, and the smell of antique automobiles welcome to 2010. It’s kind of ironic that we’re getting all excited over the Game Boy, a device which was released to the public way back in 1989. But as you can tell, the Game Boy above is so much more than your average GB.

This is the Steampunk’d Game Boy. Thankfully, form doesn’t trump function with Thretris’s creation as the device is fully usable. Besides the drastically improved physical shell, the Steampunk Game Boy also features a nice amber glow from within compliments of a new orange LED which completes the whole 1856 look wouldn’t you say?

Well…I want one.

Are you a fan of Steampunk’d gadgetry? I’m kind of on the fence personally. While it is cool to see custom electronics and one-offs, a couple months back there was a huge explosions of steampunk material that frankly, burned me out.

A few months out of the public eye however will do wonders for your interest. Not to mention, if done well, Steampunk gadgets are a sight to behold. Take for instance this Steampunk’d USB flash drive/Hunley (old classic submarine) replica. The drive itself is your run of the mill 16GB flash drive, which I might add is a fair amount larger than many novelty/custom flash drives. Even better however is the obvious attention to detail the creator “WillRockWell” of Etsy put into this little digital wonder.

If you’re feeling all nostalgic (and have a healthy, fat wallet) why not make this flash drive part of your collection? It’s mighty shiny…don’t let the $800 price tag blind you.

In many different hobbies and areas of society, retro is all the rage. Clothing is one such market in which old styles are constantly reborn and revamped, presented as new once again. However, in regards to technology, old tech isn’t exactly “cool” again. I don’t know about you but when I see an old room-sized computer in old books, I don’t think “Gee, I wish I could have one of those in my room”. Heck, I wouldn’t even want to have a modern computer look like one. They’re big, boxy, and ugly things that don’t deserve a rebirth. But there are a few rare gems. Enter the realm of the Philco PC “Re-Design”.

Designed by David Schultze, this Philco PC remake pays homage to the old Philco TV’s of decades past — namely the 50′s era. The big bubbly screen and bright orange paint job aren’t the coolest part. What really gets me all giddy over this mod is the steampunk keyboark. An actual steampunk design that I actually like! So far I haven’t been a big fan of Steampunk styles as they just don’t tickle my fancy. But I digress.

The old typewrite style keyboard definitely gets props for the whole retro look while blending a modern fit and finish that comes off looking slick and gorgeous — a modern piece of retro-modern art.

What’s you opinion? Would you proudly display this on your desk, using it as your main machine? Or would it get the ‘ol glass case treatment, forever encased in a see-through shrine for all to see?
You know, every time I stumble upon another steampunk-ified object I start to think “oh my god…again?” with a few exceptions here and there for truly impressive and unique ideas. Taking something as ordinary as a pumpkin is different from normal gadget/electronic versions of steampunk’d devices we’ve seen a lot of lately. But, in the spirit of Halloween and having a little fun, I decided to share this Steampunk Pumpkin with you. I admit, this metal clad pumpkin is actually pretty cool. I’m sure there are at least a few curious cells in between your ears. Go ahead and give the vid below a watch. What can it hurt?

While I have generally not been to interested in the various Steampunk products that have been circulating around the inter webs the last several months, one in particular caught my eye just because of it’s sheer beauty. The Steampunk + Nixie Clock is all about what geeks stand for. Antique and ancient designs come together in perfect unison giving 10 lucky (and deep pocketed) individuals a chance to own a true piece of geeky gadgetry. Constructed from vacuum tubes, this clock features an alarm as well as options to set the choice of time or date to be displayed. While not loaded with features of most of todays alarm clocks, most of todays alarm clocks don’t take 4 months to craft out of solid brass (gold optional) and copper adding to the exclusivity. As previously hinted, there will only be 10 of these little wonders created meaning the price will certainly be a small fortune. Place your order and get ready to wait four months before touching your prized possession.
