Gigantor Apple trackpad leaked?

  • June 7, 2010 6:42 am

What could it be…a trackpad? A giant trackpad? With all the momentum behind gesture-based computing and Apple’s reliance on such technology, it only seems right that they’d super size said technology for desktop use. The trackpad you see here is supposedly a new Apple product that’s set to be unveiled later today at WWDC 2010.

One thing’s for sure, whether it’s real or not, today is going to be a jam packed day. Looks like we’ll find out soon enough. Step on in for a couple of bigger pics to feast your eyes upon…

Oh snap! HTC MWC announcements leaked ahead of schedule!

  • February 15, 2010 9:45 pm

HTC is one of the hottest smartphone manufacturers right now. What can I say — they’re on it. Pretty much every handset they release, even the mid to lower range handsets look nice to the eye, sit well in the hand, and offer plenty in the software to keep us entertained. HTC’s MWC event is tomorrow (or today if you’re in Barcelona for MWC) so it isn’t that far away. However, we being the impatient gadget aficionados that we are, never turn down a good juicy leak. And juicy this is — HTC’s MWC rap sheet out in the wild!

Eschewing normal social trends, we’ll start with the tail end of the excitement and build up to a climatic finish…or you could just skip ahead — your choice.

HTC Touch HD Mini

Like the name implies, the HTC Touch HD Mini is…mini. A miniature version of the full bodied 4.3″ Touch HD that is. For the Touch HD Mini anyway, this early leak is purely visual (read: no specs to chew on for now). Well, alright. Chances are it’ll come stocked with Windows Mobile 6.5. Nothing much to see really. But it sure is pretty, isn’t it?

HTC Legend

Now we’re talkin’. The so called successor to the wildly popular “Hero” that was released in the US on Sprint comes into 2010 with a more classy look with slightly subdued edges. Though in true HTC/Android fashion, that now characteristic chin remains front and center — ready for your grouping.

The specs:

  • Screen: 3.2″ HVGA
  • Navigation: Optical trackpad
  • OS: Android 2.1 w/ Sense UI

HTC Desire (Bravo)

Ah, finally. The cream of the crop, top of the line, kingpin. The HTC Desire (Bravo) is *the* new flagship Android device from HTC. The physical appearance is typical HTC smugness — dark, calm, and subdued. That doesn’t make it any less appealing though.

Specs:

  • Screen: 3.7″ WVGA
  • Processor: 1GHz Snapdragon
  • Navigation: Optical Trackpad
  • OS: Android 2.1 w/ Sense UI

So what do ya think? Their lineup looks strong and should cater to any price point no? Look for these spec lists to get quite a bit longer in only a few hours as HTC “officially” takes the wrap on these little gems. Want some early speculation? I’m going to say the processor on the mid-range Legend (Hero successor) will be in the 600-700MHz range. What’s your best guess/wishes?

T-Mobile sending BlackBerry 8900 out to greener pastures, recruiting new hotness 8910.

  • February 4, 2010 8:05 am

If you’re in the market for an affordable, EDGE-only BlackBerry on T-Mobile USA, you may want to expedite your purchasing action. According to T-Mobile’s own site, they are dropping the 8900 form the roster, leaving only the BlackBerry 9700 and 8520 to cover the high and low end of it. Just do a quick search for “BlackBerry” — no 8900 in sight.

The move isn’t all that surprising. With the slightly tweaked 8910 already getting seen stealthily walking around in public, it would only make sense for T-Mobile to update their BlackBerry fleet accordingly. Remember when the 8820 came along and replaced the 8800 which itself wasn’t on the market for that long? Same story here. Except instead of the big news being WiFi, the 8910 brings a balless trackpad design and updated 5.0 operating system.

Besides the much better appearance and build quality over the low-end 8520, is a new trackpad and slightly tweaked OS enough to postpone your purchase of a new BlackBerry in favor of the 8910? Or did you give up on non-3G devices years ago?

Tour with trackpad and WiFi (Essex/9650) seen in Sprint garb

  • December 17, 2009 10:02 am

essexThe BlackBerry Tour is by far the best CDMA BlackBerry yet. It has style, power, and sophistication. But one glaring omission — WiFi — fails to earn it a “buy” rating in my book. Remember, no matter how good your carrier, there will always be dead spots. The Tour 2/Essex/9650 is no secret. It’s been rumored about and talked about for many months. In fact, shortly after (as in days) after the original Tour, talk of an updated model with WiFi and a trackpad were heard.

Now that actual pictures have emerged CrackBerry users all over can feel confident knowing that help is on the way. If you held off on the original Tour congrats. The updated model while not really all that different save for the two additions already mentioned will no doubt bring a smile to countless Berry users. Who’s planning on upgrading from their original and who waited it out?

Tmo 9700 decides to stay home a few more days. Not showing up until November 16th party.

  • October 28, 2009 7:59 am

Products release dates getting pushed back are never fun at all. Starting with a sentence like that, you know that something now so smile inducing is following. Word is that the much lusted after T-Mobile BlackBerry 9700 decided to hold of it’s coming out party until November 16th. You know T-Mobile better watch out. Starting a string of delays isn’t fun for anyone and this delay in particular is starting to remind me of the delay after delay style launch AT&T’s Bold suffered from. We can only hope this isn’t a Bold delay launch part 2.

The reason for the delay as well as official confirmation is still unknown. All I do know is that this is going to upset a few CrackBerry/Tmo users who were waiting for some 3G/UMA BlackBerry goodness.

And yes, I’ve sent the now standard email to T-Mo asking for some clarification. We’ll see how it goes.

Verizon to get low end BlackBerry savior: 8530

  • July 29, 2009 5:31 am

blackberry-8530

If you just so happened to be one of those CDMA toters in the BlackBerry world, always looking over your shoulder at your GSM frenemies with jealousy and haste as you watch them time and time again get the coolest berries first and even exclusively, you sometimes find yourself questioning your odd yet steadfast alliance to this less used wireless technology CDMA. While the top of the line BlackBerries always leave us speechless and ecstatic, the bottom end needs just as much lovin’ too. Not everyone wants, needs, or can afford a $400+ BlackBerry. For GSM users, the up and coming 8520 with it’s 2005 technology is just perfect — a mostly gorgeous new Berry wrapped in new skin with time tested gadgetry inside. As has been reported many times earlier, Verizon will in fact be picking up their own variation of this low end Berry with the call numbers of 8530. Perhaps the greatest news I’ve ever heard about a Verizon handset is that the 8530 will back up Verizon’s claim to include WiFi here on out on all devices as the 8530 CDMA Verizon version will in fact be toting the often elusive wireless radio. Is WiFi the only thing that some lower end buyers were holding out for? Will it make you switch from your current device?
