Run for the hills, hoard water, slaughter sheep: Windows 95 running on an iPhone

Remember waaaay back in the day when GUI’s were “visually appealing” with such features as simple drop shadows, 2D graphics, and simple blue/gray color schemes? That was of course back in the Windows 95 era. Now we have displays and GUI’s that display millions of colors, complex 3D effects, transparencies, and other countless visual candies that make our everyday lives more fun to look at. Who in their right mind would want to bring the old and antiquated look of Windows 95 back…much less install it on one of the hottest gadgets currently available? Nerds, that’s who. Several of them banded together and using nothing but a Bochs Emulator and Windows 95 image have successfully installed Windows95 on an unsuspecting iPhone — poor little guy…didn’t even see it coming. The video at NoWhereElse shows all of the decade old glory showing its wrinkled face all over the crisp iPhone glass. While it is sorta cool to actually get Win95 up and running on the iPhone, it is by no means that functional, instead, it’s more of a “look wh at I can do” kind of thing.
Some may celebrate the feat of geekiness unfolding in front of their eyes while others will cry that this seemingly dead piece of technology is coming back from the grave. Which one are you?
*Update* Didn’t realize it or notice before, but this little gem of unholy matrimony takes an upwards of 5+ minutes just to boot at which point it’s still useless. Ouch!
