ASUS’s Dock-able Padfone Gets Official (Again).

The previously announced dock-seeking Padfone has received a few small updates since its original May 2011 announcement. Most notably, the 4.3″ (540 x 960) device now features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the OS of choice along with a dual-core Qualcomm S4 processor w/ Adreno 225 graphics chip, 1 GB of RAM and rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 shutter. Cellular radios literally include anything and everything underneath the sun save for LTE. The bread and butter of the Padfone, however, is how it can be docked into a 10.1″ laptop shell which comes with its own UI to take better care of all 10″ of glass and pixels on the 10.1″ 1280 x 800 IPS display.

True to form, the Padfone will be able to dock/attach to a number of devices including the aforementioned laptop dock as well as bluetooth keyboard, stylus and a number of other unique attachments.

We have to admit, out of all the Android smartphones on the market and compared to Motorola’s own phone docking solution, we’re finding ourselves appreciating ASUS’ efforts a tad more. You?
