You know, our wireless carriers don’t nickel and dime is enough. How about another fee. But wait a minute. It isn’t AT&T serving the latest slap in the face — it’s Verizon.
Beginning April 22nd, VZW will charge a $30 fuck you over “upgrade fee” to upgrade to a new device when re-signing a new contract. Some small saving grace can be found in the fact that if you trade-in your old phone through VZW’s green program you can “offset or completely eliminate the upgrade fee”.
Per Verizon:
This fee will help us continue to provide customers with the level of service and support they have come to expect which includes Wireless Workshops, online educational tools, and consultations with experts who provide advice and guidance on devices that are more sophisticated than ever.
Why charge a separate $30 fee, VZW? Why not just raise upgrade hardware pricing by $30 if it is really a problem?
Looks like Verizon really took to heart the legitimate wants and wishes of their customers…NOT! If you were pissed about the $2 fee we can’t imagine you being happy about this either.
*For the record, VZW is was the only major carrier not charging an upgrade fee. AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile each charge $36/$36/$18 respectively.
