Survey says: NBC blows Olympics, sucks at life overall…

It’s no secret that the general consensus surrounding NBC’s handling of the Olympics is that it sucks. Plain and simple — horrible. Between tape delays, “old farts”, and utter lack of any real selection of online content means for an increasingly digital generation, the Olympics was an epic let down. Don’t believe me or the countless other sites highlighting such travesties? Just look at Crimson Hexagon’s data (above) collected…

Sound the bell: Blockbuster is on the way out.

Of all the industries that have been hit hard by the digital revolution, the music/video industries are some of the hardest hit. With both formats relying heavily on physical media for income, now that many are pushing away from such formats, the companies involved are feeling the pinch. On the video front, Blockbuster is taking a beating. Just look at their recent 4th quarter results in which they lost over $400 million — $400 million!. Even more telling however…

About that ridiculous claim that flash for mobile will kill battery life…

You may recall Steve Job’s now infamous quote many days back stating that if Adobe Flash were supported on the iPad, the battery life would fall from 10hrs. to 1.5hrs. A bold claim to make and one that I can neither confirm or deny being that I don’t actually have an iPad to play with. Even still, such a drop in battery life doesn’t seem very plausible. Flash on mobile devices has been known to kill batteries rather quickly, but that quickly? Flash…

And the slaughter continues: YouTube officially ending IE 6 support March 13th.

If you’re still using IE 6 on your own terms, turn of the computer now. For the rest of you being forced by “the man”, you have my sympathies. IE 6 is the poster child for living well past your prime. Thankfully YouTube and Google are coming around and realizing that at some point, the madness has to stop. For IE 6 related madness, March 13th is the end of all days according to a fairly invasive new banner/page that is displayed when visiting the video…

IE 6 refuses to die. But why?

I’ve spent a considerable amount of time criticizing Internet Explorer 6′s continued lingering in the public sector. For consumers, IE6 is at the very bottom of the totem pole of relevance. The corporate sector however, is an entirely different story. My personal opinion was that the reason for the reliance on old software and technology was simply because of legacy hardware and software dependent on the outdated browser. Well, I was right — partially….

You know, with each passing day of not being able to see the Olympics live either how I want on TV or god forbid, stream anything worthwhile, it becomes more and more clear — NBC flat out sucks as a network. Earlier this year they handled the whole Tonight Show/Jay Leno/Conan Obrian fiasco in a less than stellar manner and now they are in the process of making this one of the worst Olympics yet. To say coverage is terrible is a gross understatement. The blatant…
