Facebook’s “Facebook for Every Phone” featurephone app appears to beginning some Instagram-esque inspiration by way of two new photo filters — Black & White and Sepia — that can be applied to uploaded photos. Though, how reliant the featurephone app was on Instagram’s recent $1 billion acquisition by the social networking giant is uncertain as a spokesperson speaking with InsiderFacebook stated that “no one from the Instagram team worked on the Facebook for Every Phone app”. Instead, an engineer from a recent hackathon event should be credited.
Regardless of who created the app, Instagram features and functionality will almost certainly be added into Facebook’s official apps and web service sooner or later. And when that happens, Instagram’s future as a standalone app is a lot more uncertain.
