Word is going around that T-Mobile is putting a soft cap on data usage at 1GB per billing cycle. For all of the hype T-Mobile and Google have been spewing out regarding android and all of TMO’s new found 3g goodness this is truly a slap in the face. Power users will want to keep that Android device in their pockets a little more than out. To make the cap even worse, customers who go over the limit will have their bandwidth throttled down to 50kbs or less! So now it really becomes useless. I believe this is a ridiculous move on TMO’s part.
What shocks me even more is that TMO has log been the “fairest” and cheapest carrier. Considering AT&T and even (Gasp..!) Verizon have higher caps makes TMO a little less attractive. I guess their CS department is really going to have to work overtime to pick up the slack.
—-UPDATE—-
Well that didn’t take long…T-Mobile announced today that the “soft cap” is gone! The small percentage if people that use “excesive” will still be throttled. Still, it’s alot better than what it was.
