  • 8350i rears its head!

Yes Nextel fans, your day is coming.  The 8350i from RIM is making its way to the public soon.  One of Boygenius' ninjas snuck some pics of the upcoming berry.  As you can see it has more of a "rugged" design.  I personally think it looks pretty cool.  However reports of completely horrible signal are circulating, which, given the Nextel's network doesn't surprise me.  At least Nextel berry lovers have something.   source: Boygenius...
  • Apple approved MMS for iPhone a go…In Sweden…Not US :(
    by Mike
    Posted November 20th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
It what is to many U.S. iPhone users gut wrenching news, iPhone users in Sweden will soon be able to claim something no other iPhone user in any other country can claim...Apple approved MMS.  According to Macworld Sweden, Apple has given Telia, the iPhone carrier in Sweden, the go ahead for developing their own MMS app for the iPhone.  A release time frame is currently somewhere around 2 months!  For us U.S. users, someone will either have to find a way to maybe hack/copy the Swedish version,...
  • Boygenius Blackberry Storm Review!!
    by Mike
    Posted November 20th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Boygenius has really gone all out and done a complete...and I mean complete review. Nothing is left untouched, untested, or unaccounted for!  His basic conclusion: If you're already on Verizon and want a REAL TOUCHSCREEN SMARTPHONE and not some crappy Voyager or Dare, the Storm is where its at and hands down Verizon's best phone.  Then again, that is comparing it to Verizons mediocore list of phones.  On the other hand if you're with another carrier and thinking about switching, that is where...
  • Palm Treo Pro making its way to Sprint…just a little too late for the Holidays :(
    by Mike
    Posted November 20th, 2008 at 3:02 am
For all of you Treo loving, Sprint followers hoping to get your sweaty hands on Palms latest and greatest as a Christmas gift for yourself, you'll have to wait a tad longer.  Many hoped it would make its grand appearance before Christmas, unfortunately it isn't slated for release until January.  Pricing info is unknown at this time, but I will update as soon as Boygenius lets us all know, haha.  In Palms defense, it doesn't look half bad.  I will definitely head over to Sprint on the d...
  • Mobile Browser Shootout!
    by Mike
    Posted November 19th, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Gizmodo  has gone through the long and intensive process of comparing many mobile browsers from popular smartphones including the Blackberry Bold, Apple iPhone, Samsung Instinct, Mobile IE running on a Samsung Epix, Opera running on a Sumsung Epix, Android G1, LG Dare, and a Nokia E71 S60.  It uncovers nearly every stone.  For the full article follow the link over to Gizmodo's page, for a quick recap, see below: As you can see, Mobile Safari and the G1 browser destroyed the competitio...
  • MMS for iPhone?
    by Mike
    Posted November 19th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
TelianSonera, a Swedish telephone company let slip recently that they were working on a workaround for MMS on the iPhone.  Whether it was an in house workaround or a collaborative effort with Apple wasn't given, but one thing is for sure is that the iPhone is long overdue for MMS!  The reported arrival of MMS was mentioned as being around 2 months out.  Only time will tell if this rumor manifests into reality.   source: MacNN...
  • 12 MP camera….In your phone!
    by Mike
    Posted November 13th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Because single digit megapixel camera phones are so 2007, Sony is upping the ante with a 12.25 Megapixel 8mm CMOS sensor for dedicated camera phones.  Overseas in Europe and Japan camera phones are way ahead of the game with our crappy phones here in the U.S.  They've had 5,6,7+ megapixel camera phones for several years now.  We are just catching up.  Meanwhile they're breaking out the double digit monsters of photography.  This beast of a sensor is also capable of shooting 1080p HD video a...
  • Verizon = Greedy A**holes
    by Mike
    Posted November 13th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
I'll start by saying, bar none, Verizon has the biggest 3G foot print, and generally in most sections of the country, the best coverage.  However, I don't care if they had 100% coverage from here until the moon I would NEVER subscribe to their nickel and dime bs. Rant aside, Boygenius has got his hands on the full two page document highlighting Verizon's consumer friendly change in their plan pricing and Smartphone/PDA plan schemes.  After November 14th ALL smartphones will requir...
  • WinMo 6.5 in the flesh!
    by Mike
    Posted November 12th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
It looks like WinMo7 isn't the next latest and greatest to talk about from Redmond.  Wmpoweruser has obtained a couple of screenshots of WinMo6.5 and its immediately apparent facelift.  I'm not a WinMo fan but am definitely digging the new look.  However, hopefully they actually went further than just prettying up its face and actually made some under the hood improvements.  One rumor that has been floating around is that the Zune software will be integrated into either WinMo 6.5 or 7, a dir...
  • iPhone takes crown, dethrones Razr.
    by Mike
    Posted November 10th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
The Razr's reign has come to an end.  No longer is it the #1 phone in terms of units sold.  That title now goes to the iPhone 3g.  The iPhone has taken the top spot not be a little but by a wide margin.  One question comes to mind is look at how the perception in the Razr has changed the last few years.  WHen it first was released it was a $500 beast (at the time) of a phone) that everyone wanted, and few could afford.  Now, every one and their mother can get Razr's for free.  Now its a p...
  • Centennial…The new AT&T
    by Mike
    Posted November 8th, 2008 at 11:37 pm
Now I consider myself a tech savvy person who stays current with tech stuff all kinds. However, AT&T snapping up Centennial somehow slipped right by me. I can honestly say that's the first I've heard anything about this *peeks head out of apparent bubble*. Well good news for me as I have AT&T. With the acquisition comes better coverage for At&T users in the more rural areas of the Midwest and southeast. All that has to happen now is various committees, shareholders, and other s...
  • “Tethering coming soon” says AT&T
    by Mike
    Posted November 6th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Chances are, by now if your even remotely tech smart and wanted to tether your iPhone to your laptop you probably have already explored the world of jailbreaking. Setting up tethering on a jailbroken iPhone is hardly a chore. With AT&T;'s delay because of fears their crappy 3g network will cave under all of the extra traffic (we all know it's true) one would ask, will anyone even pay for the most certainly overpriced tethering option from AT&T; once ts actually released? I'm sure a few tech r...
