  • Monster announces they have finally done it…Worlds BEST SOUNDING earphones.
    by Mike
    Posted December 31st, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Well, I'll jump on the BS wagon and call it right there. While I do consider myself 2 notches away form a full blown audiophile, my wallet disagrees with me. I simply can't afford many of the things that my ears beg for. Monster is a company with very loyal followers and on the other end of the spectrum, very loyal haters. Next to the typical Apple and Microsoft fanboys, Monster is probably right up there near the top with them. When I think of sound quality, I'll admit it, I've heard m...
  • Garmin Nuvi Phone shows its face…kinda.
    by Mike
    Posted December 31st, 2008 at 6:29 pm
For some time now, Garmin has remained pretty quiet on their iPhone competitor the Nuvi Phone.  Obviously being a GPS manufacturer, the phone is going to be heavily based around GPS.  Other features besides GPS will be your standard smart phone features such as email, web browsing, multimedia, etc.  Electronista has acquired pretty decent set of screenshots of the UI.  Electronista makes note of certain iPhonesque features in the UI.  While I see certain placements of icons being simi...
  • CES is just around the corner!
    by Mike
    Posted December 31st, 2008 at 10:20 am
For all of you consumer electronic loving addicts, CES is probably one of the times of the year that you start foaming at the mouth and twitching uncontrollably at each and every announcement of a new gadget.  This year, the main focus is forecasted to be software, not hardware as it has mainly been in the past.  With the economy in the toilet and no one wanting to spend any money, companies are looking at software to bring them out of the economic slump.  Since last year was Bill Ga...
  • Apple iTablet/iPod HD/*insert dreamy device here*?
    by Mike
    Posted December 31st, 2008 at 9:48 am
Right up there with the unknown things in life such as the real killer of JFK or if the moon landing is real or not, is when if ever will Apple release the much rumored iTablet? Apple lately has not been able to stay out of the lime light on the rumor front. First, iPhone nano rumors started cropping up. Then "El Jobso's" health was called into question for what seems like the 100th time, and now the iTablet is back in front of the rumor line. What is the iTablet? Basically its a device...
  • Y2K part Deux: Everybody panic!
    by Mike
    Posted December 31st, 2008 at 9:37 am
Engadget has been receiving many...again I say many reports that the old 30gig first gen Zunes are all of a sudden failing to function.  They reset themselves and then stay stuck at the loading screen.  This so called event has been dubbed "Z2K".  Is your 'ol 30 gig zune going the way of the dodo?  Is the world coming to and end?  Is Microsoft behind a grand scheme to first kill our zunes, then our first born, and then finish everyone else off in the stereotypical apocalyptic nuclear b...
  • 480Hz TV’s coming to CES!
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
120 Hz tv's are sooo 2008.  The new hotness is 480Hz!  Not wasting any time in the new year LG is ready to unleash an ocular ecstasy...(or so they hope)!  Why does this matter to the average human?  Basically, the Hz number means how many images are displayed each second.  The goal LG hopes to attain with the 480Hz tv's are making movies and tv viewing smoother and more natural looking.  Movies at a movie theater are shot at 24fps.  Most people won't notice any slow downs in the movi...
  • Because a laptop with dual-core is sooo 2008…
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
So, you thought having a dual-core was cutting edge...Not anymore. Dual-core is old news and last year in the mobile world. The new hotness is quad-core processors. The time has come for them to finally trickle into the laptop arena. Acer was so excited, they couldn't wait to release a laptop featuring Intel's latest and greatest. The Aspire 8930G-7665 can claim to be the first laptop to market to use Intel's new Q9000 mobile quad core processor. While being first to market with the new c...
  • “Cupcake” add-on goodies coming to the masses!
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
The "Cupcake" goodies that I wrote about a week ago for Google's Android are now unofficially officially making their way to all G1 users via a push update over-the-air. Engadget received word from HTC that they are in fact going to support Cupcake, however it will be up to Google and T-Mobile to get the update to end users. This announcement is not an "official" announcement mind you, hence the unofficial official wording. This is just one prime example of the high points of Android. The ...
  • Blackberry Curve 8900 coming to T-Mobile in Feb.
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
Boy Genius has done it again. He is giving us an early New Years gift showing T-Mobiles early '09 release schedule. The 8MP Samsung Memoir tag appears to be tag teaming with the 8900 on Feb. 18th. Will that date stick, or will it be pushed back? Only time will tell. For WinMo fans, the T-Mobile Shadow 2 is coming in late January while a few other lower end handsets round out this early '09 push. Source: Boy Genius...
  • How to: “Sync Holidays to the iPhone with Mobile Me”
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 1:22 am
I have been trying for a couple weeks now to sync holidays to the iPhone with MobileMe.  Finally, during Christmas I've finally had time to sit down and actually find a method.  As some of you may have found out, MobileMe will not sync "subscribed calendars", which is what all holiday calendars are.  When you subscribe to a calendar from Apple, such as a holiday calendar, all you are doing is reading an .icns read only file.  One way around this was to use Busy Sync and sync a google calenda...
  • iPhone nano coming in ‘09?
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 12:25 am
*IMAGE IS NOT ACTUAL IPHONE NANO!!!* Rumors of an iPhone nano started cropping up a couple of months ago, only to die down a few weeks later.  However in the last couple weeks the rumor mills have flared up again driving the iPhone nano madness to the brink of almost credibility.  Now, even more "credible" sources such as Vaja, an established Apple accessory maker, are linking to information about upcoming products, more importantly iPhone nano sized products.  While I like to st...
  • Neo Free Runner soon running with Android?
    by Mike
    Posted December 30th, 2008 at 12:11 am
Boy Genius has let loose some info regarding the often talked about (in the geek world, yet unknown to the masses) Free Runner.  Currently, the Open Moko Free Runner rocks an in house OS that in all honesty doesn't look have bad to the naked eye.  However, I haven't personally used the device so I can't say how well navigation is.  Back on topic, apparently the FreeRunner is set to be rocking Android in the near future.  Also, the new "Android version" is going to get a re-worked unit di...
