  • Nokia 5800 NAM here today…gone tomorrow
    by Mike
    Posted February 28th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
In what is sure to disappoint many Nokia faithful, Nokia's 5800 NAM has been pulled from the shelves a mere 7 hours after going on sale.  Many lost and directionless people are left scratching their heads and asking why.  The answer is no surprise and has been identified so far as an issue with the handsets connecting to 3G signals.  Seems as if they are perfectly happy staying on the good 'ol 2G network.  The owners however have a problem with this and are taking their new found loves...
  • “Blue Shadow” theme for Nokia 5800
    by Mike
    Posted February 28th, 2009 at 10:16 pm
While I showcase many Blackberry themes, that doesn't mean that I'm not looking for or don't appreciate other device themes.  Good design has no hardware limits.  When I stumbled upon the Blue Shadow theme I knew that I had to show it to you.  While I personally don't have a Nokia 5800, I can definitely tell this is one of the better themes available for the device as "Costa", the developer, has definitely put some time into this theme.  For all interested Nokia 5800 users, you can pick ...

  • Blackberry and weather addicts unite!
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 10:59 pm
The Blackberry is as undisputed leader in the smartphone market.  You literally have the world in the palm of your hand.  Crackberry addicts who have a side lust for weather can now satisfy two loves in their lives.  The Weather Network theme is a truly unique theme.  While the colors might not be everyone's cup of tea, the function behind the theme is sure to impress.  The main draw behind The Weather Network theme is the fact that your local weather is displayed in the upper left corn...
  • Camino beta 2 available….NOW
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
The last couple of days Apple's Safari browser has been stealing most of the spotlight.  However, there is another contender in the browser market that also got some new numbers and updated functionality: Camino.  More or less a "Mac Firefox", Camino is a lightweight and fast browser built using the same rendering engine as Firefox while being natively written in Mac's Cocoa language.  I've been using the latest beta 2 of Camino 2 and I have to say I like it a lot.  Does it have the cove...
  • NTT DoCoMo’s Blackberry Bold taking after AT&T’s Quickfire?
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 8:06 am
Bad news for Blackberry hopefulls on Japan's NTT DoCoMo's network: it is being reported that the DoCoMo is halting sales on the Blackberry Bold due to overheating issues while charging.  AT&T's humorously titled "Quickfire" is still fresh in our minds with it's own overheating issues.  Apparently there is an epidemic going around that affect peoples' ability to plug in their cell phones properly.  While I joke, this current NTT DoCoMo issue doesn't seem to be anywhere remotely related...
  • Almighty Apple degrades the App Store just a little more…
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 7:40 am
Sadly, the latest in App Store purges centers around emoji icons.  While the Japanese iPhones are the only iPhones to have emoji icons (the 10 million little smiley faces) from the factory, many apps have popped up either solely to enable them, or as an added feature bundled with some other app.  Today marks the end to un-Japanese emoji as Apple has sent letters to all developers with emoji enabling apps stating that their apps are either being pulled (if it's a stand alone emoji app) or t...
  • Turn that AMD Phenom II X3 into the quad core you’ve always dreamed of
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 7:06 am
If you have an AMD Phenom II X3 laying around, today is the day to unlock its true potential.  Seems as if the X3's are really just  quad core with one of its cores maimed.  However, if you are fortunate enough to have certain motherboards (korean), a Biostar mobo, or a Bios with the option of "Advanced Clock Callibration", you can restore life back to that lifeless core of yours.  The process is actually quite simple.   Under the Advanced Clock Callibration screen, switch the setting ...
  • Blackberry Pearl 8230 coming soon…
    by Mike
    Posted February 27th, 2009 at 6:37 am
CDMA users, if you have been dying for a flip style Blackberry because candybar phones just aren't your thing, you have reason to hold out just a little longer. The Blackberry Pearl 8230 has finally made its way through the FCC's gates meaning release is imminent. Who will get it first? More than likely (I'd bet my life on it) Verizon in the U.S. and Telus for our neighbors up north.  While the Pearl Flip doesn't really bring anything new to the table besides the flipping actionand seco...
  • Motorola i465 CRAMS full qwerty onto rather small handset
    by Mike
    Posted February 26th, 2009 at 10:09 pm
While it is one of Motorola's more unique and classy designs, it hardly appears functional.  Last time I checked my fingers weren't mice sized.  Nit pics aside, it again looks pretty cool.  What else is there to say...?  At this point nothing.  Obviously Sprint/Nextel will be the U.S. carrier lucky enough to launch this fine piece of technology.  Sadly all of the spec geeks will have to go to bed hungry tonight. • Z Man’s “Storm X” Blackberry theme shocks…and awes
    by Mike
    Posted February 26th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
While making themes for the Blackberry Storm has only been possible for just a couple weeks, theme developers are already pouncing on the opportunity to showcase their work on one of RIM's biggest ever product launches.  If you haven't ever checked out Z Man Designs I highly suggest it as he has many amazing themes that are simply stunning.  His latest work of art goes by the name of "Storm X" and is obviously for the Storm.  The bottom dock on Storm X has a sort of dark Android app bar f...
