Introducing the Android toting Blackberry Storm

Now before you get your hopes up, I must declare that Android is not coming to Blackberry devices anytime soon. Ok, now we can continue. The screenshot above comes from a presentation in which HP was showing off their work-in-progress mobile social networking service, Friendlee. Some notable features of Friendlee are the organizing of friends in the “most talked to” order, view friends’ status updates, see what their phone status is (silent, vibrate, loud, even on/off), see where they are geographically, among others. At the presentation, a Blackberry version of the app was shown and it did indeed look mighty slick. I’m not going to lie, I am not the most observant person around. However, I did realize that whoever owned that Blackberry wasn’t too happy with the stock Blackberry theme as you can see from the picture above that it appears as if the Storm on display is running Android. We all know that isn’t possible, so it must be a theme. While there isn’t anything particularly important about this “Android” sighting, it comes off to me as slightly humorous that being in a more professional environment they didn’t go back to the stock theme. Being a theme jumper myself on my own Blackberry I could care less if I was at a presentation of a product with a phone that had a theme mimicking another platform. Though there are some who would feel differently I’m sure. Does this sort of self expression get under your skin? Or could you care even less than me?

**By the way, if you want to find out more about Friendlee, check out more here.
