Who woulda thunk it? While a mere 360 days ago (give or take a few days) these two companies were battling it out over the 700 MHz spectrum rules, they have apparently found common ground and then some — high school drama I say. The big surprise is the fact that Verizon is doing something no one else in the mobile sphere is doing and actually paying attention to the market, their customers, and what said entities want. They are watching all of this negative backlash directed at AT&T and Apple for the closed and increasingly restrictive environment the two are creating — smart move I might add.
Instead, Big Red and Google are set to release a slew of Android devices (read: not just smartphones but netbooks and whatever else your little cranium can dream up) in the coming months. I’ve never been a fan of Verizon for their old closed ways. Not to mention, I love the freedom SIM cards give me. However, if they can really deliver on this so called “game changer” they keep throwing back and forth, I may just give them a serious look.
