Reports out of Cupertino are showing that Windows 7 junkies looking to have the latest and greatest dual-booting machine will have to wait until dear old Saint Nick pays them a visit. According to Apple, current versions of Boot Camp do not support Windows 7. Instead, dual-booting hopefuls will have to wait until “the end of this year” as well as sport a Snow Leopard equipped computer.
One other stinging realization is that first gen Intel machines spanning 9 actual machines and 3 product lines won’t be eligible for Windows 7 support either. If you need a rough guide, any 1st gen Intel iMac, MacBook Pro, or Mac Pro are can be pretty much ruled out of Boot Camp assisted Windows 7 usage.
A folly sure to sadden a hefty chunk of Mac users indeed. Again, while I won’t be dual-booting Win7 on my Macbook Pro, I can feel your pain. Getting a new gadget or piece of software only to find out an extended version of the waiting game is in order is never pleasant. How are you going to cope? Forget Windows 7 or buy a new Mac?
