For now we’ll hop aboard the rumor train as it looks might nice. The stop is a date to which we’ll see Google emerge from the Android crowd and release their own hardware. The logistics of such a move have been battled back and forth for several months as similar rumors come and go with many people either for or against such a move. Given the very nature of the open environment, it’s hard to see Google not trying their own hand at it…again. The G1 while not a “Google Phone” in the purest sense was designed with a strong hand on Google’s part. That particular piece of hardware wasn’t everyone’s favorite. Now that the platform has matured and several good hardware designs have come forth, perhaps Google is ready to give it another go, no?
The source for the latest bout of rumors comes from a couple TechCrunch sources based in the Asian continents of the world — namely Korea and Taiwan. It is there that the typical smartphone manufacturers have employees who leak information to the rest of us. (For those brave soldiers we thank you.) According a few unnamed TechCrunch sources, the upcoming Google phone will showcase everything that is Google. Everything from hardware to software will be meticulously designed and crafted specifically to Google’s strict specifications.
With the normal responses of “Google wouldn’t do that because….” and “They are becase…..”, we’ll simply ask a nice and easy “yes/no” question.
Will Google release their own phone next year if ever?
