Coming from an iPhone when Layar first got into the public eye, unable to actually test the software myself, have longed for a chance to experience all of the social and informational aspects of the mobile app. A few weeks back I picked up a Moto Droid and was excited to give this new premium Android app a go. Unfortunately, at the time Layar wasn’t **still isn’t compatible with the Droid or Android 2.0. That incompatibility is now a thing of the past

Layar 3.0 has officially been released bringing with it new 3D objects on maps, multiple layers able to be simultaneously displayed, guided tours, and a slew of other notable additions that will make Layar 3.0 even more useful. There’s tons to see. So much so that words would be futile and you’d probably lose interest by the time you’d even gotten half-way through. The only disappointing part is that Android 2.0 and the Droid still aren’t supported. Supposedly it was slated to come out for all Android OS versions at the same time. Looks like they hit a snag. The Layar team’s current projections have 2.0 support coming “very soon”. Minor annoyances aside, the real deal is in the video. And that is just what you’ll get. Enjoy.
