Let it be known, the last few days have been a roller coaster ride for Windows Mobile/Windows Phone users (and hopefuls). The announcement that copy&paste wasn’t going to be available at launch has filled the interwebs the last couple of days. For good reason though. Regardless of how “smart” an OS is at determining types of data and what to do with them, good ‘ol fashioned cut/copy/paste always has it’s place. There may be hope however as Long Zheng, a long-time Windows blogger/aficionado has come forward stating that copy&paste is in fact coming — just not yet.
He goes on saying that the Windows Phone team has already determined how they’re going to make it all work, it’s just a matter of too much code to truck through and too little time. So, the decision was made to launch without it. If you ask me, that’s a very good decision assuming that this account is accurate. As much as I’ve already criticized M for the lack of copy&paste on WinPhone 7, delaying an already 1+ year late entrant into the mobile OS arena would be even more devastating.
Those looking to join the WinPhone 7 party: Are you feeling a bit better about your future now, knowing that there is some possible hope after all?
