Gran Turismo 5 Staying Up North For Christmas. Another Delay Rumored To be in the Works.

Fans of the seemingly vapor-ware Gran Tursimo 5 will want to take a seat if they’re envisioning a holiday full of GT5 racing. It appears that GT5 may not make it in time for the end of year celebrations. Shocking, I know…

The bad news comes by way of online retailers whom are showing an “In Stock” game, yet when actually clicking through and trying to purchase it, a pre-order button is the only thing vying for your attention. Further disappointing is that Amazon has even begun notifying GT5 pre-ordered owners and telling them a new ship date of December 31st is being observed.

Sony meanwhile, says that the December 31st date is merely a place holder and that such things are left up to the retailer — they more or less pick a random date within the launch window provided by the developer or manufacturer. Backing up that claim is the fact that retailers GameStop and Target have January 1st listed as they date of release.

Of course, if you really want to stretch it, early January is technically considered part of the holiday season. Looking at it in that light means Sony is right on schedule, even if it’s not the schedule any of us want.

Unfortunately for die-hard GT5 fans, it looks like this Christmas will be spent without GT5 keeping you company.
