iOS 4.2 Pushed Back Until November 24th? #ios
Over the last few days, it became very apparent Apple had to delay the iOS 4.2 update because of a pretty serious WiFi connection problem affecting the iPad that wasn’t discovered until late in the testing process. And then earlier today, Apple pushed out the iTunes 10.1 update, signaling that the iOS 4.2 update could be close and that the WiFI bug was fixed. But a new claim by the Telegraph says we won’t see the update until later November, right before Thanksgiving…
A “source close to Apple” contacted the Telegraph and claimed that iOS 4.2 won’t be released until November 24th. Not surprisingly, Apple refused to comment when questioned about the speculation and rumors surrounding the delayed update, and simply reiterated their original promise — that they’d release iOS in November. As far as acknowledging the WiFi bug, Apple was silent there too. Looks like we could be waiting a couple more weeks.
I’m going to go out on a limb and still cast my vote for a launch next week sometime. Given that Apple was this close to releasing iOS 4.2 today only to be sidetracked at the last second signals to me that they’re working overtime to get the update out as soon as possible. And a delay of two more weeks doesn’t make much sense for a WiFi bug — serious or not. You?
