Deutsche Telekom “Very Satisfied” with Early Windows Phone 7 Sales, Exceeding Expectations. #wp7

Contrary to our post from yesterday, new statements made by Deutsche Telekom paint a different image for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7. While in one light, chopping down a brand new phone to a mere $50 would signal “trouble”. Though as many commenters mentioned, it could be Microsoft (and/or distributors) simply taking a hit early on in order to get as many WP7 devices into end users’ hands as possible. Adding to the latter theory, Microsoft launched a statement today on their German website citing Deutsche Telekom whom is praising Windows Phone 7 for exceeding expectations, and saying that they are “very satisfied” with initial sales of Microsoft’s new platform.

However, whatever these expectations are is not known. At the joint press conference the two held in Hamburg, Germany, neither party divulged exactly what their expectations were, meaning that without hard sales numbers we can’t really determine how successful Windows Phone 7 is. For if the duo’s initial expectations were to sell 1,000 units (obviously low) and they sold 10,000, then yes, they did “greatly exceed” expectations. Though most would agree that 10,000 units is hardly boast-worthy for a launch as big as Windows Phone 7.

Nonetheless, it gives us yet another source to try and gauge Windows Phone 7′s success. Thoughts?
