#CES2011 — Razer Switchblade Mobile Gaming Device

  • January 7, 2011 11:04 am

No doubt one of the coolest gaming related devices shown off at CES 2011 is the Razer Switchblade. This portable device is what gamers who are constantly on the go really need. Power comes by way of Intel’s Atom platform so the full range of Windows PC games can be installed and played on the Switchblade. However, the coolest feature is hands down the keyboard — transparent keys placed over an LCD screen. This allows the keys to change depending on what the user is currently doing while still giving tactical feedback.

Sadly, the Switchblade won’t be released in the near future as it is just a concept for now. With that said, it does show where mobile gaming could be in a rather short 1-2 years. Perhaps we’ll see some more production-reader Switchblade hardware at CES2011.

Follow us after the break for a short video and gallery showcasing the hottest mobile gaming device of CES 2011!

A gaming unit with an Atom processor…can you say FAIL?

Cool keyboard though. Unfortunately that’s about all it has going for it

In most circumstances for gaming, Atom = fail. But at the res of the screen, you should at least get playable fps. Not to mention, if its going to be in a device that small, you’re going to have to sacrifice some performance for mobility.

true… the only thing it has is not that special like we thought it was…
optimus maximus was the original creator of the concept.
