Motorola Confirms Gingerbread Update Coming For DROID X, Pro, 2, And Global.
Android updates while expected and most times guaranteed are all too often relegated to a state of “hope” and crossed fingers. Carriers and manufacturers get sidetracked and distracted by the next latest and greatest leaving consumers to fend for themselves in the form of rooting and custom ROMs. But for owners of popular DROID X, DROID Pro, DROID 2, and DROID Global handsets, Motorola will do you right.
A Motorola Support Forum employee gingerly (pun intended…perhaps) confirmed the aforementioned handsets were scheduled to receive Google’s latest and greatest Android 2.3.4 phone OS. Absent from his claims unfortunately were any specifics regarding release dates for said updates. Based on current rumors floating around, however, we’re looking at a June time frame for the DROID X with the DROID Pro and DROID 2 following sometime in Q3.
While we’re still left in the dark as to when updates will be coming, merely knowing offers some peace of mind.
