Sony To Voluntarily Take Down PSN For Maintenance Beginning Later Today.

Even with a month-long downtime and non-stop work by Sony’s PSN employees over the last many weeks, something still needs fixed which requires taking the entire PSN down…again. Between the hours of 4:30pm and 7am (UK time) users will be unable to login into the online gaming network. With that said, Sony maintains that you still will be able to play games and collect trophies — you’ll need to log in before the maintenance begins if you wish to play during said maintenance, and any trophies collected will be synced back up with Sony’s servers once they come back online.

While the official reasoning isn’t mentioned, we can only look at the events that have transpired since late April as a likely cause.
