I know we all know someone that loves to blow through the late night playing video games. It’s true, but are you in the know of what your Husband or Son might want gracing their console this Holiday Season? Do you have any idea what your Wife or Daughter want to play so they can get leet enough to pwn you on the battlefield? Well, we have some of the hottest names in games past the break that will make it just that much easier to get the right game for the gamer in your life!

Modern Warfare 3

Infinity Ward is back once again this year with it’s highly popular shooter, and quite possibly their best release to date! Join up once again with Captain Price and “Soap” MacTavish in another race against Vladimir Makarov and his plan to take over the World!

With the addition of new Multiplayer modes, pointstreak system, weapons and Perks, MW3 is set to be at the top of every gamers list this year! Adding in a brand new Spec Ops update as well as a kick butt Survival mode you are bound to have some great times with friends and family. The single player campaign is about the average length you can come to expect from Call of Duty, but if you’ve played any of the previous games, you’ll have to play for that story. It picks up hours after the 2nd game ends and takes you all over the world in intense shooter action.

Battlefield 3

Quite possibly the best and most anticipated game of the year has to be Battlefield 3. The massive multiplayer arena, destructible environments, and Dice’s Frostbite 2 engine, this game will destroy anyone’s sleep patterns. With the game types and pure dedication to detail that EA brings with every Battlefield game that is released, Battlefield 3 definitely does not disappoint. Gorgeous destructible environments, massive multiplayer levels, a lusted after weapon and gadget upgrade system, game types like Rush and Conquest, BF3 will make you sweat all the way to a Dishonorable Discharge.

BF3 is the first Battlfield game released on consoles (from the original BF series, excluding Bad Company 1 and 2) and it brings that amazing gameplay away from the keyboard and into the controller like no other game can. The Single Player Campaign is short but definitely sweet. Set near the Iraq-Iran border, beautiful backdrops and pure pixel beauty grace your screen. The battle between the US Marines and the People’s Liberation and Resistance makes for some intense action. And as the Battlefield games of the past, vehicles are here for the taking. Planes, tanks, helicopters and so many more are available in both single player and multiplayer. No complaints from the GS crew in our time with BF3, except for the fact that there are only 24 hours in a day to play.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

For all the RPGers in your life, Skyrim is here to please. The 5th installment in the Elder Scrolls series and highly sought after follow up to Oblivion, Skyrim will blow your mind and could possibly be the greatest role-playing game ever produced.

Anyone familiar with the series will get sucked in to a beautiful make believe world jam packed full of content. The amount of activities and the surrounding environment goes on forever and leaves you wondering where the time went. Highly praised and received better than any other game this Holiday Season, it would be a surprise if that gamer in your life didn’t already have it. But if they don’t, we recommend this game because you will probably get more out of it than any other game on that Wish List. With an overall Metacritic rating of 96 out of 100, you won’t find a more rewarding game this year.

Gears of War 3

Marcus and friends are back in the finale to one of the greatest trilogies ever written. Epic Games does not disappoint in this follow up and does an outstanding job and wrapping up a beautiful gory story. We’ve laughed and cried over the years, we’ve grossly waited for the inevitable death of Carmine. We know and love every character that we’ve seen over the years. We despise the dirty Locust and love to grind our Lancer chainsaws deep into their flesh.

As usual, the Unreal Tournament Engine destroys your eyes with pure glossy beauty. New Multiplayer modes, including the beastly Horde 2.0, hours of funs with your friends are on the horizon. A long detailed and story driven campaign will leave you fulfilled and satisfied at where it ends. It is the final game in the current story, so hopefully we’ll see more from Marcus and the Gears in the future! Non-stop gory action awaits for both man and lady alike, with the addition of playable female characters, anyone can kick some Locust arse this Holiday Season!

Batman: Arkham City

The sequel to 2009′s Arkham Asylum will blow your geeky little mind. One of our personal favorite open world Action Games around, Arkham City a beautiful romp through Gotham. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

This year’s installment to one of the most amazing games to play will be sure to suck you in once again. The games have involved three characters that all show their faces in this latest installment. Ezio, Altair, and Desmond all make their way into the game, but Revelation’s is the culmination of Ezio’s adventure and the last to take place in the Renaissance era. So anyone familiar with the stories so far will have to jump head and dagger first into this beautiful world.

One of my personal favorite open world action game has to be the entire Assassin’s Creed series. Matching both my love for stealth assassinations and a beautiful 16th Century backdrop, Revelations will continue and conclude (at least 1) of the stories we’ve been so involved in year after year. Multiplayer returns as it was in Brotherhood, refined to allow you to test your stealth assassin skills with others from across the World. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be sure not to disappoint anyone that has been a fan of the games of the past.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I really don’t know what I have to say about this release. If you or a loved one have a Wii, you need buy this game. And if you don’t have a Wii, I suggest to quit reading this and go buy one and this game. Anyone born after 1985 know exactly what this game means for the old nerdy NES player.

Skyward Sword is a prequel (in the Chronology of the Series) to Ocarina of Time and elaborates on the origins of the Master Sword and Ganondorf. It breaks away form the normal Legend of Zelda series’ traditional flow of alternating over-world and dungeon exploration. Utilizing the brilliance of the Wii Motion Plus, every movement of Link’s sword matches the player’s motion with exact precision. If you have played only Zelda on the original NES, or you have been a fan and dedicated role-player since then, you will need to have this on your list and in your collection.
