Will You Be Picking Up A Quad Core Asus Transformer Prime On December 8th?

There are a lot of awesome deals on current and last-gen technology floating around as we lead up to the holiday season. While we’d heartily recommend a fair amount of said deals, we’d caution the truly addicted gadgeteurs walking around out there to set their sites on December 8th. On that day the quad core Asus Transformer Prime will hit the market bringing with it an extremely versatile tablet + laptop-like experience starting at $499.

While it won’t be the first Tegra 3 device on the market, the combination of upgradability to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and healthy assortment of specs — quad-core processor, 1280 x 800 10.1″ display, 1 GB of RAM, 8MP/1.2MP (rear/front) cameras — are certainly worthy of your attention. The only downside to this seemingly do-anything device is the lack of 3G/4G capabilities as Asus is oddly leaving cellular data services out. Toss in the add-on $149 keyboard as seen in the image above and we’d wager most people could completely ditch the traditional desktop/laptop ecosystem.

You can already find the Transformer Prime for pre-order on a number of online retailers. Now the only question remains: will you bite?
